Big man 3pointers...

Sorted by % https://go.nba.com/neyj

Sorted by Attempts: https://go.nba.com/phmc

I was a little surprised at what I found. NBA stats to date. I selected Centers which is just big men, PFs and Cs.

Randle is listed at #26 for %.

In terms of how many 3Pt attempts Randle has taken, he is #7 in the big man category.

If you remove the really low volume guys (maybe less than 45 3pt attempts) and look at 3P%, Randle is just about TOP 12 in the league as a big man shooting 3's. This does not include guys that are SF who play PF minutes.

If I'm a team I'd plan around Julius shooting 3s and taking away everything else he does and let's not mix Randle up with a deep three super threat

Tell me I'm wrong?

Yeah, giving Randle some space and having floaters scouting him seems to be a way. Have a defender flash with the help and make him do a spin move into another flashing defender. That defender needs to be more aggressive either going for the steal or taking the charge. That’s when Randle is playing like how he did against the Bulls of course. When he’s playing well, he’s pretty unguardable.

If Randle remains a Knick and I never see a spin move ever again, I wouldn’t complain.

Hmmmm this is a real wait and see. That shot still dosent look convincing but good on him. He’s also taking much better quality 3s than he ever did.

I think Randle will be one of those guys whose percentage will shift from bad to OK every year. I'm all good as long as he's hitting. Also gives me hope for RJ.

He does seem to be taking better 3s compared to last year. Might take me awhile to truly see him as a floor spacer but we'll keep watching (and hoping).

Not wrong. His 3pt shot this season has been pretty decent. It’s his 19 ft step back jump shot that kills me. His work in the paint is pretty efficient also based on trips to the charity stripe.

I’m not gonna tell him he can’t take step back 19 foot jump shot under any circumstances, but if he took a little better sense of the floor, he might take an extra step back before letting that one rip.

Not a killing point, but I would (will?) take a look at his overall jump shooting and not just his 3pt conversions cause I think eFG is a bit more important than just 3pt%. Might be he should be taking more 3s.

You know I gonna spin wit it

He gets better every year. That’s all we can expect. He’s becoming that.

And now, after the game, he is shooting just under 40% from 3pt land for the season on decent volume, 4 a game.

I'm glad he's hitting them. GUys are sagging off of him for obvious reason (he'll bully them otherwise). Have to make them pay sometimes, and if yuu're hot that night keep firing

I don't want him living out there though. too valuable a rebounder

Randle certainly replaced KP's production/value while exceeding his durability, questionable attitude and improved team chemistry overall...

It sure feels that way. Randle came into this season a better 3pt shooter, free throw shooter, playmaker, leader, and he's playing tough defense. Superstar-type stuff.

i had posted his stats from last March- 6 games only, but he started to figure things out.

He is a decent 3pt shooter. people that want him gone because they think that will make us better are naive.

at some point, rather than exercise our team option, we should replace with a long term contract. Get some savings vs a max type deal, which if you look at his play this year, he would likely get from a team after the team option, assuming he continued his level of play.

Yeah But Randle was just as suspect as KP when you have a Inexperience Coaching staff, and a dysfunctional FO that specialize in TANKING.

Don't know how you can even compare the 2 when they both have different Roles, Randle's not playing next to Luka, and KP is not a Point Fwd, Also Kp is just coming back from a 20 month lay off.

Yes you're right. And my comment wasn't comparing them. What i meant was Randle came into the year better in all of those categories than he was last year. Obviously KP is a better shooter and defender when you compare the 2. They are really completely different players. But Randle improved his game in every aspect which is impressive. He's the best player we have had in a long time as he is playing right now.

Yes. More important Randle wanted to be here while KP did not. KP is too injury prone to rely on and honestly hasn’t taken that next step while Randle has. Now you an argue KP has had to deal with injuries which slowed his growth but the fact that he is always Injured is a rev flag. Fact is the Knicks dodged a bullet and ended up with some extra first rounded which is huge

One thing i always find fascinating is Porzingis is less than a year younger than Randle. It feels like Randle is much older for whatever reason but they are at the same point in their careers essentially.
