https://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/261315/Knicks-Clippers-Interested-In-Trading-For-Derrick-Rose

The New York Knicks and Los Angeles Clippers have interest in trading for Derrick Rose. Tom Thibodaeu coached Rose with the Chicago Bulls and Minnesota Timberwolves, while Ty Lue had a brief stint coaching him with the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Rose was linked with a trade to the Los Angeles Lakers and Philadelphia 76ers last season.

Rose is on an expiring contract with the Detroit Pistons.

Now that Thibs is strolling the sidelines at MSG, this is not surprising at all. I understand Rose is an expiring and clearly, he is better than Payton. But like Payton, Rose can't shoot from the perimeter either...If Payton aint in the deal, No Thanks!

If we are looking for an upgrade why not upgrade from within and turn the keys over to Quickley. Would rather give those minutes to our youth, so they can continue to develop rather than chase an 8th seed with journeymen on one year deals who will not only take mins away from our young players, but are probably gone next year.

ALSO...Our First Round Picks Better Not Be On The Table

Even Mills would not be stupid enough to have our 1st rounders on the table.....throw them DSJ or or one of the 2023 2nds...

I would rather not. Our bigs will be in foul trouble all day and opposing PG will absolutely destroy us. For what? 5 more points per game from PG position? Minus the D?

Absolutely not.

Rose, didn’t produce wins and he’s not doing it now. Keep Thibs on the sidelines not in the front office.

If you want to reroute Rose for assets and you can get him for DSJR have at it. But no reason to take minutes away from anyone on this roster.

Another guard that can’t shoot. Sign me up! As a bonus he already played here and it didn’t work out. Makes so much sense.

And now you see why Thibs was a trash GM.

Lets see..

Last time Rose was here he said job one was a max deal, before the season started. Kept his word. Spent most of the season calling his own number, when he wasnt hurt. Freezing out KP.

Rose also went AWOL on the team.

I dont care If Rose is Thibs secret love child. Dont care about their history. You think Rose is going to be a good mentor for Quickley? He froze out KP, knowing he was the future (or thought to be)

Sure, lets bring Noah back too. This happens and mgmt might as well turn the keys over to Thibs. Didnt work in Minny though.

I saw a stat that said Rose leads the Pistons in usage without having started a game. You thought Payton's dribble pounding is bad? Also, he's only shooting 33% from three. We've all seen his defense. Talent aside, where's the roster fit? Why aren't they interested in JJ Reddick?

I was afraid of this the moment Rose hired his friend.

No thank you. Couldn't wait to be rid of him FIVE YEARS AGO. Why would we bring him back now, exactly? Is this what we're paying the FO the big bucks for?

Leon Rose brought in that kid who is supposed to be an advanced stats prodigy. I hope he's sounding the alarm lol.

Believe Payton plays right on that line between aggressive and ball hog. He also plays D, more of a leader on the court. Rose has shown since the Bulls that its all about him.

Trade Payton, give quick the start, let Rose back him up with Rivers.
Its not like he a Marine and abandoned his platoon in the heat of battle and people died. Its basketball.
Let’s just say if the price was right..........No picks. If we done with Dennis or Frankie, then let them move on to an opportunity.

Not a bad idea. Let’s grab Melo and then bring Noah back out of retirement too while we are at it.

Rose plays pretty well under Thibs, avg almost 19 points in Mini, even had a 50 point game.

And ask yourself this, who really played well under JH and that BS half of a triangle and toxic FO.

That team was at 500 when phil started tweeting about melo

agree with a lot of the comments on his skill set and prior experience with us -- both big negatives

but i suspect the factors behind the moves are (1) he believes it will establish a competitive identity -- Thibs loves Rose and (2) we have 3 pg on the roster who provide very, very little offense, one of whom (DSJ) also provides little defense.

it would come down to the details. i wouldnt cry if elfrid or DSJ went in the other direction

Completely forgot about the AWOL thing. Knicks need to have respect for themselves.

Haven’t most of y’all forgiven JVG for “bailing” on “Us”?
Did DRose leave you locked out of your apartment?
Took your car keys by accident?

No he wigged out for a few days. He has recovered well and is basically would be a stopgap player in a year to year easy deal.
I give Thibs the freedom to want his guys. DRose is not a savior now or a hopeful reclamation project. His is limited. He connects with his coach.
If its good for the Knicks as a whole I can see past his awol. Other than Dolan nobody is in the FO to hold the grudge. Really, its not like he pissed on anyone’s cornflakes here.
If we are disposing of Frank or Dennis anyway then send them or some throwaway 2nd round pick.
DRose is not in Detroits plans. If not for his kinship with Thibs I’d say the same for us.
That he would even want to return says something.
Truth be told he’d be a good cheap fit for the Nets off the bench or other contenders.
He wants in on this hot mess, I’d be open for it..

The AWOL thing is in the past as far as I'm concerned The things that concerns me is fit. We need another slasher who can't shoot? Reddick is also on the block. Why not him? This is like his Jeff Teague signing in Minnesota. Everyone can clearly a how bad a trade can be. Sometimes doing nothing is the best move.

I do not care about JVG having bailed on us. I think that he was a grossly overrated coach who could not maximize the potential of his teams. The finals run was in spite of him and a major stroke of luck.
I am still sore about Riles bailing on us, because he was a darn good coach.
