Olapido has always been a good player, the question is health.

he was a max player at age 25. Now he's a really good player who has max player moments.

Honestly I am happy Houston is doing this because if it works he looks a lot more viable for the Knicks.

Why did they put him at PG with Wall though?

Outside of the draft the best PG prospects are Ball and Schroeder and neither of them fit and they come with their own issues.

Dipo as a PG might be a good look for us. Let’s see how the season plays out.

Yeah, he's had one "max" player season. The others have ranged from decent to good.

He looks like the type of player who would bring this particular team up a nice notch. A guy who can get his own shots from 3 levels but also distributes plays D etc.. You add in Olapido and Burcks then this team much different. Can watch him the next 5 games--but Id be interested in trading for him with one of our extra 1's if he was willing to sign a longer term contract with us.
As in a 1 number 1 pick plus a deal to sign 3-4 years 20mm a pop

Instead of waiting a couple of months and keep the first rounder? And also see how he pans out?

It's like a mini Melo trade all over again

I'd say he needs to show more first. Also, there's a chance the Knicks could sign him without giving up pick. We were one of his initial choices and Houston isn't re-signing him.

this. He might be a great FA signing. If he has a healthy bounce back year no reason we can give him the Hayward contract. He plays both ends and spaces well enough to pair with RJ so the fit is good. You could come back next year with the same team minus starting Elf for OlaDIPO, + draft capitol + Mitch and RJ and IQ and Obi and Knox another year older and better. Knicks could have a squad pretty quick. We'll see what Leon does

Naw, the Hayward contract is bad. On top of that, Hayward performed at a higher level than Oladipo when he was healthy. Dipo isn't max. Somewhere between Julius Randle's and Malcolm Brogdan's seems about right.

We can just pay him money though. We have more money than damn near anyone. Also I want to see him play a whole season.

He is 28. His fist 5 years was not to symptomatic regarding his health. Had a bad injury and last year was rusty.
Not sure where Indy was at regarding extending him but clearly they were not convinced.
I agree lets see where his season takes him and what the doctors say. We won’t know any of the mediacl stuff. If he is not PG and thats what Thibs wants then the answer is no.

Agreed...I mentioned in one of the threads over the summer that Victor seems to be an obvious target for the front office...At some point, I think we are going to use that cap space we've been preserving at some point....Wouldn't be surprised to see him hear next year.

Yeah...That was a gruesome injury...Haven't watched him play mush this year so I'm not sure if he lost a step or not.
