Ruh oh: Frank Ntilikina suffered a sprained knee, according to the Knicks, and is out tomorrow.

Good news is it’s not a bad sprain, and he’s day-to-day.

Poor kid can’t get out of his own way. Always injured.

It’s too bad, it doesn’t show in the box score, but he does make a real impact with the second unit. Probably not going to crack the rotation again now with rivers and quickly coming back.

Hoping it's a small deal, and I'm as pro-Frank as anybody, but concern over his ability to stay in play is becoming real.

Just starting?

This guy can't catch a break. Some of these guys play 110%... but when you go beyond the limits that's when you increase the risk of injury.
Guy need to get better at giving 95% most of the time... on occasion dipping to 100%.

The problem is that these bench guys have to come into games with a do-or-die mentality or their minutes go to someone else. They push themselves to the limit every single play, like a split second of burst on a fast break could change the outcome.

Frank allegedly tweaked his knee early in the game but stuck with it. I guess it swelled up a bit after.

Interestingly, practically the entire Knicks bench is seemingly banged up. Noel, DSJ, Frank, Burks, Knox, Obi, Quickley...

None of these guys who are hurt were playing huge minutes. If an NBA player can't play hard for 6-7 minutes stints, I don't know what this league has devolved into.

Don't forget Thibs legendary practices and the less than ideal structure of the season. Guys are going to dinged up. It's not just Things, although he does have a rep, but the league expected this. This, combined with Covid, is the reason why two-way roster spots were modified. It's to be expected. Just got to hope the next player steps up.

Thibs seemed to imply in an interview before the season that he wouldn't play his guys as many mins as in the past, but his actionssay otherwise.. Randle played 44 mins yesterday, and 37 mins in a game we won by 20. The assistants really need to remind Thibs to give these guys a blow...

As for Frank, his history with injuries suggest this latest one has nothing to do with Thibs.

Players in NBA maybe did not come into SHORT CAMP out of shape for it? That might be.
Rookies got drafted a few weeks before camp. You don’t want to blow an ACL before so some might have been cautious? I don’t know.
Thibs is a tough coach on his players.
Not just knicks that are banged up.

Well, keep in mind Randle's projected back up (Obi) is hurt and both of our bigs are very thin. Spellman doesn't appear to be an option so Thibs kinda has limited options. Regarding the 20 point win, how many times did the Knicks blow big leads last season so he probably doesn't trust the team to protect big leads yet. However, I do agree he needs to find ways to give Randle more rest.

Thibs is trying to win games.

regarding the 20 point win i thought it was intended to be a payback for last season when the Bucks had a lot of fun running the score up on us. Personally, i hope that's the case

We've had too many coaches (e.g., Fiz) and players (e.g. Melo) who were way too chummy with opponents, yucking it up with opponent or at worst sulking like a teenager right after a loss. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for sportsmanship and professionalism, but these guys need to be world-class competitors in addition to athletes. they should be pissed on the inside -- professional on the outside

New coaching staff, new front office and probably half the team turned over from the previous year. I doubt there was any payback incentive.
