I never thought I would ever ask this question in my entire life... but the last time the Knicks legitimately mattered was 1999, and then again briefly during 2012-13... the Nets are really good. Just curious to see what people think. If I was 12 I think I would go Nets

Hell no they have two stars that are probably to two most hated players in the nba ... there gonna need to improve there depth to beat good teams ... and Durant is gonna have to stay healthy . He probably won’t .

No way. Knicks fans are still loyal despite their team being trash for 2 decades. We are for the large majority incorruptible.

Covid19 makes the location of the arena irrelevant.

Genuinely don't care- I'll be rooting for the Knicks whether it's popular or not.

Feel bad for fans who switch to the Nets and have to pretend to like KD and Kyrie (I almost want them to trade for Harden, just so you have 3 of the most unlikeable, talented a**holes on one team!). I know we would have been a lot more successful if we'd signed them, but I am honestly relieved I don't have to pretend to like them.

So people are deciding whether to tune in or not based on what the empty seats look like?

By the time the economy reopens and fans are actually allowed back into arenas which will be next year KD and Kyrie will both get sick of eachother and one will demand a trade

Nets have a much better team with star players yet there is much more focus in NY media, talk radio, blogs etc. concerning the state of the Knicks. That should give you the answer to your poll. I would estimate that the Nets would have to have sustained excellence for a decade while the Knicks remain as rhey currently are....for it to move the needle IMO.

No. They ha e had plenty of the years of the Knocks being awful where they “could take over NY” and they could never do it. You can tell they are pissed that no matter what the K icons are still the most talked about basketball team in NY

Doubt Knicks lose any base with a Net chip but neutral group that starts to watch and then root will talk hold. Chips do that to people.
Anyone who under the age of 28 remembers or cares about the 1999 run?
There is a generation of fans who are more about the stars then the team. My son in law is a Lebron fan. He is 29. He does not know of knicks being good. Lebrons been playing sinc he was 11. There are Durant fans out there and they are basically a national type of fan.
(Sorry Jrod)......
I was an ABA Net fan back in the day. First pro game I ever saw was 1971 with Rick Barry playing for the Nets. Back then you could be fan of both. Knicks were of course tops. In 1973 we used to go to new Coliseum and it was great fun. They used to let kids like us take a few baskets very early in the warm ups. We’d sneak down and sit at the press table for the last bit.
WE’d go see Dr J on the Virginia squires who was with a young George Gervin then, Pogo Joe Caldwell on he Cougars, etc.
When DR J came t Nets in 74’ it was great fun. KNicks fresh off their second chip and Nets got their first.
Went to game 7 of ABA final vs. Larry Brown coaching the Nuggets with David Thompson. Nets down by 23 rocked the house with a comeback win. Never been to a game seven of any chip, at home since so it was as a young teen a great time! The place was electric. Thing is it was a different experience. Nets Sold DR and then moved to Piscataway. It was over rather fast.

Will the Nets own NY if they win a chip? Not one, but win two or three over 5 years might do the trick. I don’t see a GSW type run in the future but then who ever does?
GSW had Steph, Klay and Dray as a core. Nets had a respectable core of non famous players. Dinwiddie, Lavert, Harris, and Allan are not anything close to stars. I respect the hell out of what they have done and they did it. Nets to me are the same as any other team anywhere else. Being from Brooklyn and a former net fan I thought they might tug at the heart a little bit but really not much. I like MDA, a fan of Nash, and I suppose if the play the Lakers I’ll be neutral. I also like Lebron. I root for greatness and like to see it happen. Really in any sport. Not so much with Brady mind you but for the most part Lebron has grown on me as a player and his intentions off the court. More respect than Fandom. Respect of his career.
Thus I think Nets will gain some fans in NYC and around the country but really Knicks have to get it done to earn any fan base. They are a legacy type. MY son will root for them because he grew up on them. But at some point you gotta just get it done for goodness sake!!!!

Supreme, can you really go full out and starphuch to the Net nation? I can see rooting for them but does that really change your stripes? Nets vs. Clippers? I’m rooting for Nets, but I’m not doing the parade thing.

No they never own nyc its stupid espn and tnt trying to hype them up as much as possible because they are not popular in nyc. Espn has to hire kd possy jay williams , richard jefferson, and hire espn malika andrews to report net news. I will say this about thibs, rose, leon rose and dolan that there not going to wait for these kids devlope more then a year and wouldn't surprise if knicks go after derozan and drummond in summer 2021. I will say this about nets lot of teams don't respect them in the eastern conference its lot bad blood between sixers, raptors, celtics, miami, bucks, and lot of others.

It’s pretty easy to dislike Durant and Kyrie they have 10 cent heads, jackass and flatearther hahaha god they suck. Durant made a financial mistake choosing the nets over the Knicks. He’s be killing it for his personal brand.... now it’s a dud. the nets are playoff worthy nothing close to chip worthy

It’s funny that we even look past the Nets squad that had Pierce, Garnett, Williams, Johnson and Lopez.
You know I gonna spin wit it

The Nets have ran their franchise much better than the Knicks for many many years with much less behind them — same thing with giants jets. Yankees Mets Problem is we should be the king but we’re not

Nets can be trendy and all that. But at the end of the day they aren’t a NY team really. They will always be NJ. You will always be able to get cheap tix there and it will never feel like going to a game at the Garden.

ESPN had those guys for a few years. Durant has been MVP and a top 5 player for a decade. Its not that they are hyping the nets NY, they hare hyping them as a national presence and its good for ratings. They hype the Bucks, Celtics, lakers, etc........They hype the stars.

Jay williams and richard jefferson have been there on espn for years but they take there shots at the knicks but they are very unprofessinial. Espn and tnt reporters always go to unprofessional takes about knicks and dolan they take it to far. I am glad knicks only have 1 game on espn this year i wish there wasn't any games because how unprofessional espn crew some of stuff is justified about the knicks. Jay williams and richard jefferson are friends with durant they always say bad stuff about the knicks. Espn hired nets beat reporter to cover the nets in malika andrews because nets had kd and irving so they could have special net news and no knicks news.
