I liked him during his Brooklyn days. Solid bench dude at low cost.

So 2023 is now the magic year for acquiring draft picks.

I assume Davis is a salary dump. Will he be waived, or serve as a mentor our younger players?

Is this the new strategy? Stock up on 2023 #2 picks which will be choosing from a talent pool equal to the mid to late #1s in our present draft system?

If 2023 isnt about the double draft, it might be that college ball, the crowds, normalcy, should be back by then. Easier to evaluate prospects.

I dig it. I'm sure I have an outdated memory of Davis, so trying not to expect anything out of him, but this is using cap space in a way we really haven't seen the team do before.

Refreshing.

I love what the Knicks are doing. We have cap space to spare so taking in a contract attached with assets is smart. In 2021 we have 2 firsts and 2 seconds. In 2023 we have two firsts and 4 seconds.

With all the players renounced aren't there about 5 roster spots to fill?

Yeah but we have plenty of cap and plenty of teams looking to create space, plus two-ways etc. It won't be a problem.

Agreed. I think the Knicks will make another one of these type of moves to keep adding on future assets.

You really think so

We have had cap space 4 out of the last 5 season.

40 mill this season, 70 mill last season, 22 mill the season we sign THJ, and phil had one season where he had 30+

We're just not signing Needle movers

This isn't a FA signing. We're normally on the other side of the aisle here tying assets to unwanted contact (like THJ). When have we ever leveraged our capspace like this in order to pick up assets?

We're renting it out in a year it doesn't matter and collecting interest in the process...

While picking up a player who was injured last year but may be able to give decent backup minutes.... and be in the position to trade him again IF things pan out.

A positive veteran presence with our young team makes sense as well.

Pick 33 had no value to us— those are usually the coveted spots high in rd 2

RIP Crushalot😞
