Interesting. I don’t love giving away a early second just to move up 4 spots late in the round but Obviously there must be somebody they are targeting who they feel had no chance to fall to 27. Hopefully we can buy a second rounder too

I think the knicks can still buy a pick on the second round if they want another player. Now the question is who are they trying to get at 23?

Probably someone they could have had with pick 38 anyway

Either that or they plan to trade 23 and 8 to move up.

Possibly. Although I’ve heard the Knicks were only interested in moving up in the top 3. I don’t know if that enough. There have been rumors that’s it would take Mitch, 8, and something else for the warriors to move back

Interesting thought... less than 12 hours and we will know how it will all unravel

Philly has a million second round picks. I'm sure the Knicks could snag one of them if they really needed to.

Agreed. I specially this year I think teams are willing to sell second rounders

Naw, there are definitely guys in that range like Woodard, Bane, RJ Hampton and Terry that were probably never going to see the second round.

My first thought is this has to be a play for something bigger because face value this trade makes no sense. There is NO way they can predict in this particular draft someone not being there at 27 but being there at 23. Even for a trade for a higher lotto pick it doesn't make sense to me, as in this draft I would think the 27 and 38 would be more valuable than the 23 due to the talent level being so close at the bottom of the first/beginning of the second. The ONLY way I see this making sense is they know someone they like got a guarantee from someone in the picks 24 to 26 range and they needed to get ahead of that team to grab whoever.

Why would they trade up four spots HOURS BEFORE the draft ???
They could have a deal in place IF the player they're targeting were still on the board.

Maybe they need Pick #23 as part of another trade.

I wouldn’t trade Mitch but I would be inclined to let go of Knox or Frank.

Either way, we know if they move to the top 3, they want Ball and if they move to 4 or 5 they are getting Toppin.

I disagree.

If the Knicks see I guy they really like being projected to go in the 20s, if moving up 4 spots increases you chances of getting the guy you want by say 30% and all you had to do is forfeit a 2nd round pick (#38), it makes total sense to me. Especially since acquiring a 2nd pick elsewhere is probably very doable. Philly has four 2nd round picks. You would think simply buying one from them is an option.
