The link is messed up for me. Maybe the writer knows Briggs and is trolling him.

Article reports Knicks "have interest" in Woods. Duly noted.

How is he a fit with Mitch? I don't like it.

Thibs system tends to rely on a big who can score and a big to do mostly garbage man work/defense. Wood would be the scorer, Mitch the defender and would
Probably duo the center position the whole game.

Very apt comment on Woods. On several levels.

Wood is not a good defender at all and would drive Thibs nuts. I’d still sign him and see if he improves though. The upside is there.

Guess you would give Mitch the tougher defensive assignment. Hope Woods can improve. Will have to check out some clips. His offense would really have to be there. We still dont know if there's been real progress in Mitch's offense. Wont know that until the season starts.

This is at the end of the spectrum

If Jim Dolan and the Ny knicks can’t beat Detroit for a free agent—- then simply forget about free agency

IMO it makes mitch expendable because there's no way in hell your playing two big men who combine to avg 1 assist (remember Noah lead the bulls in assist under Thibs) especially in a small ball era...That means no one gets the ball once it's in their hands.

With rumors swirling about Mitch or frank has a possible trade bait to GSW to snag laMelo.

CP mentoring Lamelo for 2 season could be a very good look

If they are both the same exact players as they were last year, I actually think they compliment each other halfway decently, other than the fact that Wood doesn’t pass much. Mitch can still play off the ball and perform pick and rolls. Wood can hit the corner 3s and post up a bit and he can actually move without the ball as well.

The problem is the defense. The offense shouldn’t be a problem. On offense, he compliments Barrett 100 times more than Randle as well.

I would actually be a lot more open to trading for Chris Paul AND signing Melo if we got Wood.

Mitch
Wood
Melo
Barrett
Paul

That’s actually a really good offensive team, especially if Barrett shoots better and if Mitch starts taking open shots.

How much will the Knicks have to overpay to get Detroit to blink?

Beats me. You think Detroit would even consider maxing him? I certainly wouldn’t offer him huge money if I were Leon Rose and Scott Perry.

There is also an issue with sample sizes when looking at Wood's three point percentages. And it's not like he was a high volume guy last year.

When the Lakers won the championship this year

They used

a CENTER either Howard Mcgee who was 7 feet

A PF A Davis who was 6-10

and LBJ

Christian Woods is prob the closest thing to A Davis thats available

why wouldnt we want to go in that direction?

Except Wood plays very little defense. It’s hardly a comparison. Again, I would like to sign Wood at a good price. I think you’ll be upset when you learn he’s nowhere near AD though.

I’d rather sign Melo or Marcus Morris to a 1-2 year deal after we trade for Paul or Westbrook

Good point. Woods shot 38.6% from 3 last year. Pretty decent right? Except he averaged 2.3 3 point attempts per game. Compare that to Marcus Morris who, as a Knick, shot 44% from 3 with 6.1 3 point attempts per game
