Our teams next big day is 6/25

7 future FRP
Tradable contracts (disgruntled stars?)
Packaging picks + randle/knox/frank/dsj get us somewhere?

Declining Portis option gives us cap space for FA

What REALISTIC moves would you like to see?

"WHy was portis not traded!!!!' Knicks are lazy!!!
Read that somewhere. POrtis is a good player on a buy out. Not a trade.
Trier? I think knicks tried to move him. I don't think there is much of a market. My guess he gets bought out and waived.
Same for Elkington. Maybe someone can use him. Good dude.
Realistic moves? We win the lottery!!! Take Wiseman or the next big march madness player. No mania this year.
Any "Maximus CapSpacious" in Europe this year? Got that Israeli kid getting talked up. Long way to go.

My general sense is that the team will simply keep adding value this coming year in the "process" manner. They probably exercise Payton's option at $8m. Barring injuries, thats a good value. They should take a look at Portis and Gibson's vs the FA class. With two #1s, I am probably looking at BPA, most likely a PG based on the current draft class. I don't see any FAs this year other than AD that I would reshape my team around. I don't see AD leaving LA this year but who knows. He reserved the right to be FA.

Once the read on AD is in, I would suggest a similar offseason to the last one. Try and create some value by virtue of the contracts signed. Put themselves in a position for the wildness of the 2021 UFA class and combined 18/19 year old draft class. There will be a lot more action in 2021 offseason and they should be coming to that table with as many chips as they can muster.

As always, if they see a way to pull a top 10 player, they should be listening.

You know I gonna spin wit it

I'm hoping the focus is to add shooters and get faster. I'm fine with the offense being built around Barrett and Randle for another year. It is what it is, no better options. We need to surround our core group with shooters and more shooters. Not the Ellington and Bullock types. Real difference makers. If we aren't a team that can beat teams on talent, we should be able to outshoot some teams to wins and with faster play. Regularly being last in the league in 3pt makes/attempts and assists the last few years is not the way to be. It's a big area Mills and Perry have failed. We have the ability to overpay a couple of shooters on the open market this summer on short term contracts due to the lack of teams with cap space. It's a buyer's market.

I think we should trade down this year. The top spots are all question marks. I like Edwards and Ball, but they all huge question marks. I think we can get good value while gaining extra picks. Mills got crap for wanting to trade down last draft, but that is one of the reported moves that came out I could understand. I'm happy with RJ, but would I have been as upset if we landed Herro and Hachimura instead? Just something to consider. I haven't followed Hampton that much, but he looks solid from what I've read. I like Obi but he looks older than Dot lol (He's 21)
Those are guys we could target if we could finagle an extra pick. Haliburton would even look good if we moved back to the mid-lottery range.

We are going to be in the mid lotto range. I'm guessing 6-9 range. Top 5 pick will take a lot of luck. Haliburton might be top 4 when it's all said and done. I think getting Haliburton or Cole Anthony is optimistic where we will be picking. Hampton or a rising 3&D guy like Devin Vassell are options in the 7-10 range. It's a weak draft so getting a quality future starter or 6th man is a win. As far as trading down, i guess it's a possibility if we feel the players are all projected role players anyways. This is a year that might be the case outside of a couple of guys. As for last year's draft, a guy like Herro is excelling in an excellent environment for building a young player, but ultimately is talent doesn't come anywhere close to Barrett if Barrett is developed properly. Herro should end up being a very good player, but Barrett can be a star.

After the trade deadline and the various changes, do you really still believe this? I start with the notion that the Knicks just traded their best player.

GSW aren't going anywhere.
CLE just got Drummand, better or worse?
ALT just got Capella and a few others, better worse or same?
TWolves? Can they do any worse?
Knicks? Just lost best player?

Yeah, not just Herro, but someone like Rui. I'm just saying I can see Mills view point last draft. I'm happy with the pick, but I wouldn't demonize Mills for having that position. You're right about our pick, but you never know with this new format. Even it's a mid lottery, I would still like to add more picks. Like you said, it depends on how you feel about the players this year. I'm lukewarm. I don't think anyone this year makes it top 5 last year, except maybe Edwards.

With a Interim Coach, A lame duck GM, no official President of Basketball operations, a weird ass owner, a roster full of tradable contracts, expiring contracts and a treasure chest full of Draft picks.

Can you honestly say what we are going to do..Cause I have no clue.

But you know what they say, OPTIONS is always a good thing, the hard thing is picking the right one.

The Best player in this Draft is probably going to be a sleeper like a PG13, Gannis, type

Yeah, Perry can do nothing at this point. He's waiting just like everyone else. This goes back to the issue of the timing of the Rose announcement or the need to pick anybody now at all.

Maybe, maybe not. But Randle and Payton are catching their stride and we have a light schedule coming up. Plus I don’t think the Knicks will go full youth mode like other teams. They will continue to fight for wins until the end.

A few articles out connecting Perry to World Wide Wes. Does he get to keep his job? Rose will need some experienced basketball people to rely on. Also what happens to Herb Houston?

Wiseman has a chance to be a stud. If he's avalbale when we pick, you take him. He's 7'1 lefty, runs the floor like a SF, has range out to 17 feet and can score in the post....The best part about his game is he plays both sides of the ball. You need 2-way players if you are going to be successful in this league.

Has a little Embid/Anthony Davis in his game (NO, I'm Not Saying He Will Be As Good As Them!!!!!)

I assume Herb Houston stays in his current capacity. He's one of the few execs who has sniffed success and he doesn't undermine Rose. Plus he's right with Dolan
But that's just me speculating. I don't know what to say about the World Wide connections. The dude is connected to the entire league. Are they close or are they just passion acquaintances?

We’ll get lots of names thrown out and Perry might stick. Some assistants are being mentioned and some retreads. I’d think rose has strong opinions about some people given the nature of his job the last 20 years.
For all we know he might have taken the job on the condition he partner up with someone specific.
Wes Williams is just rumored to be coming but under what title? The man of mystery. He might be more influential as a non employee given his seemingly best talent is “influence”. Gotta watch that tampering rules! From what I have read Wes advocates patience. Tells players not to spend Nickels but wait for dimes. Something like that. Yet its Dolan who has no patience. First stop need to be “respectable street” but not as a destination but as part of the process.

While you are reading about him, I've watched him play. He is better player than Mitch on both sides of the ball. Mitch might be a light better shot blocker but thats it. Wiseman is more advanced than Mitch on the offensive end and his court awareness is much better. He makes his fair share, but the difference is he takes them, while Mitch wont even square up to the rim if he's 10 feet away.

Wiseman is still raw, just like Mitch, but like I said he's further along. If he's there when we pick, it will be hard to pass him up just for the simple fact that will be a valuable asset and will give us tremendous flexibility in terms of moving him or Mitch and just seeing if they can develop together. Or, we might be able to trade Wiseman for a pick later on in the lotto and a player. Plenty of options with him.

I think nobody else was traded because they just weren't good enough that other teams wanted to give anything up for them. The only one of the vets that we signed in the offseason besides Mook that i thought would of had trade value would of been R.Bullock. He's a really good 3-D guy but he's also on such a good contract that i don't mind keeping him for the rest of this year and next year.

When you say that Israeli kid, if you're talking about Deni Avdija then i'm all about that kid. I think he would be a great draft choice for us if we don't draft one of the PG's which there are many of in this draft. I also love Obi Toppin and would love to get either of those two with our lottery pick and then see if we can get back in the late lottery or just outside of it and come away with one of the PG's in K.Hayes, T.Haliburton, C.Anthony, N.Mannion, RJ Hampton or T.Maledon.

Nah, I've watched him play. Full games. Granted, there wasn't a lot of them but enough to get a sense of where he was at developmentally. Just because a dude is willing to shoot and drive doesn't mean he should be doing. His handle is sloppy and his J isn't a strength, even against lower competition. You've seen it with your own eyes. Even athletically....compare him with someone like Mitch or Ayton... it's clear that he's not quite on that level. If Wiseman is best player at our position, I have no problem taking the pick. I'd rather trade down, but I wouldn't be terribly upset. But unless he's made major strides training alone..I don't see a plate who is better than Mitch.
