wow- apparently true.expected this to be a hoax.

no matter how much money I had, I don't think i'd fly in a helicopter- they just crash.

very sad, especially for his family and daughters.

Basketball legend Kobe Bryant reportedly died in a helicopter crash in California, it has been reported.

The NBA legend enjoyed a glittering 20-year career with the Los Angeles Lakers during his primE

TMZ report Bryant was travelling in his private helicopter when it crashed in Calabasas on Sunday morning.

The chopper is said to have been on fire after going down, as emergency services battled in vain to save those on board.

Five people have been confirmed dead as a result of the crash, which is now under investigation.

Bryant's wife Vanessa is not believed to have been involved in the accident.

This is god awful news. I keep hearing conflicting reports about who else was on it. I really hope to god none of his daughters were on it

From TMZ..

12:35 PM PT -- Kobe's daughter Gianna Maria Onore -- aka GiGi -- was also on board the helicopter and died in the crash ... reps for Kobe tell TMZ Sports. She was 13.

We're told they were on their way to the Mamba Academy for a basketball practice when the crash occurred. The Academy is in nearby Thousand Oaks.
