GM Date Team
1 Nov 3 Wed @ Minnesota
2 6 Sat Boston
3 9 Tue Philadelphia
4 12 Fri L.A. Clippers
5 13 Sat @ Indiana
6 16 Tue @ San Antonio
7 18 Thu @ Houston
8 19 Fri @ Dallas
9 21 Sun Cleveland
10 23 Tue Atlanta

As much as we'd all like to see the team have a great start to the season and go 10-0. The reality is that 5-5 is more optimistic considering that half of these games are on the road against NBA elite playoff teams. We'll be tested from the word GO!

If we can squeeze out a win against KJ, Spree, and Alien (Sam Cassel) in game 1. We'll be flying high when we get back to MSG for the home opener against the Celts. We should beat Boston, Philly, and the Clippers. It's the next 5 games that will really show how much we've improved. All the games are tough. How well do you guys think we'll do?

We've proven we can beat Indiana, and due to the history between Zeke and Bird you know the team will be highly motivated because of the rivalry. I think we'll win this one. Then we swing through Texas. I'd LOVE to come back 3-0, but would settle for 1-2 and come home to finally beat Lebron and friends, ditto against Atlanta.

So optimistically, I'm looking @ 6-4 after 10. IMHO, I think these 1st ten games will say alot about who we are as a team as we'll be tested early and often. Thoughts?

ouch 5-5 seems evident

The problem with the Knicks is they can squeeze out a win against a minnesota or Indiana but then they lose to the bulls or the hawks

so yeah I'm sticking with 5-5...6-4 at best

L - @ Minnesota
W - Boston
W - Philadelphia
L - L.A. Clippers
L - @ Indiana
L - @ San Antonio
L - @ Houston
L - @ Dallas
W - Cleveland
W - Atlanta

It s a tough first 10 games...so 4-6 would be a decent start. The Cleveland game could go either way...so 3-7 is a real possibility.

I hope they can at least win 1 game on that 4 game road trip...if they do that i think they can do no worse than 5-5

3-7, 4-6 is likely.

Its a new team and can have early chemistry problems. depends on Allan's starting the season.

I think the first 10 games will say little about this team. IF they get off better than I state, then its because they got the chemistry thing early. Its the last 10 games thats gonna tell me some thing, and by that I mean in the playoffs, cuz thats where the charactor is on the line.

Think about it, TT showed his. I expect a much better prepared team and maturity from all, especially 'Gazy.

Crap. Why do they always give us a tough schedule in November? Doesn't Stern want the Knicks to sniff .500 ever again? 4-6 would be acceptable, but would probably start a code blue in the tabloids. 5-5 would be nice, but I think even then you would see a story from Mitch Lawrence proclaiming the nigh-ness of the end.

Well, think about it. By the numbers, our schedule isn't too bad. We have 5 home games against teams that were below .500 last season!

The winning formula around the league is win your home games, and split your road games. It's the old mantra of "not in my house!"

Yes, the road games will be tough--- but hey, they're on the road. Our front-court will be tested on the road.

5-5 will be a great start to the season. Anything better would practically mean a ticket to the finals. :)

If you wanna be technical the Knicks have a potential to lose all their games. I don't know how guys are gonna play. If guys come out the gate with confidence then the Knicks should go 10-0.

Realisticly....I really only see Minnesota, and maybe Indiana as teams the Knicks can't mess with so early in the season. The Knicks are good. I put them up with anybody. The Knicks don't have a dominant big man but the Knicks do have quality depth at every position. If they have a good camp and play with a chip on their shoulders they could go 8-2, or 7-3......

Go Knicks!!!!

W - L.A. Clippers win by 3
L - @ Indiana lose by 8

5-5
Games that could go either way, Boston/Cleveland/LA Clippers/Houston

If we are at 500 with all the new cast, we should be in good shape, but if we open up 3-7 we may have a tough time recovering

I think Indiana/San Antonio(we have no answer for Duncan OR Ginobili--- and Bowen and Parker always kill us) are going to be the toughest of the bunch. Both have air-tight defensive systems in place.

Minnesota always seems to play down to us (we went 1-1 against them last year). Houston is great on paper, but they'll be making huge adjustments with T-Mac on board and losing their starting backcourt last season, thus could be vulnerable early on-- also they're very weak in frontcourt depth (they played 'Spoon big minutes last year!). Same goes for Dallas, who lost their leader (Nash) and added a bunch of new components while losing last year's big acquisitions (Walker/Jamison).

3-7 unfortunately is quite possible. A lot depends on how the team gells in training camp. If they have good chemistry going into the season and some type of feasible rotation, they can probably go 5-5 or 6-4. That 4 game road trip is just bad luck. It should tells us a lot about these Knicks.

I think its better that this road trip is early in the season... it will be a good test for us and also i'd rather get it out of the way early in the season than play it in march or april

On the MSG boards I made a Thread stating that were not much better then last year, and every single poster disagreed with me.

Now i'm over here readind this and can't believe what im reading.

I say were 7-3 in the first 10 games, and thats being realistic.
Last season when we had a brutal first 20 games, people thought i was crazy, because of all of the talanted the shifted west. I said we would be 6 games under 500. And a bunch of people responed Hell no!!. Those same people pick the magic to battle the NETS for the Atlantic.

Boston, Phili, Mini, clipers, dallas, cleveland, atlanta, and even houston, are all winable games.

Other then Houston, we beat all those teams last season with both rosters( before and after the Steph trade), so If we have gotton so much better (as most think) why is it unrealistic .

any team can beat any other team on a given night. it's much tougher to win on the road as % say and if you add in the % of good teams losing at home, we will lose some game liley also including atleast 1 los at home oursleves. If we go 5-5 during this stretch it's a sucess--if were better than that--it bodes very well--worse is not terrible-3-7 and worse would be distressing.

by the way, were not in the same stratosphere as Dallas Minnesota and Houston--we beat Minnesota last year because dikembe mutumbo had 18 points 17 rebounds and shut off the lane on D. We dont have a player like that.
Cleveland had our number how many times last year+ even games like Boston and Philly wont be give me's. I feel reasonable good that we will get by LAC at home and ATL quite easily. All the other games are either battles or hard to win

I don't really see Dallas as a big threat. They may have added Dampier, but they lost Antoine Walker, Antawn Jamison, and Terry does not compensate for Nash. They are still good, but they are definately within our reach.

anywhere between 3-7 and 5-5 is realistic, but 5-5 is honestly pretty optimistic. I think we have a shot against Minny, but that's just a shot. All depends on our health and if everyone plays well.

Cleveland blew us out a number of times last year. They can get us. Philly and Boston are tough, as always. Atlanta is our game. It would be a miracle to find a win in that 4 game road trip. That's a freaking blow job of a road trip. Hopefully, the Clippers are ours, since they don't even have Quentin anymore.

Tough schedule. 5-5 should be the goal. Truth is, no game is should be ours, besides the Atlantas and Golden States and those teams.
