Mills not making any attempts at signing free agents. I bet FAs like Waiters wanted way too much to be in NY. So Mills said screw em. Now Melo is stuck with this squad again. Making him realize it's gonna be another sucky girl.

What did you expect to happen to turn this into a playoff team?

He didn't make any moves the last time he was pres either and some needed to be made. Melo is willing to go to Houston. I think that deal can get done.

This is why Melo needs to leave. Fans keep taking about some conspiracy.... nobody wants to sign here!!! That's why we need to rebuild!!! After we pick up a few more young guys in the lottery and keep signing hardworking vets to play with them, free agents could see what the Knicks see about and want to be a part of it.... sadly it's a real task because of cry baby fans and the witch hunting media

I dont think any contracts have been offered. All that has been reported was that the Knicks have contacted guys. Also, the Knicks are letting it be known that they will offer short deals. I don't think the Knicks ave seriously pursued any player.

Might be true... but at least you didn't say we aren't making moves just to make Melo leave...

Who are you...Trump? Lol.

Agree. We are just one move from being the 2003 Philadelhia 76'rs. And three years removed from a 54 win season. Hope it doesn't take us 15 years to be almost relevant and hoping to break .500 like them.

Melo dedinately needs to go. And KP needs to go. For their benefit.

Doubt Melo has any illusions about the direction of the team for the next few years, even if they were trying to win. Nothing short of an instant super team was going to make the Knicks a contender this season. Melo knows that.

If he can waive his trade kicker, that might come next, but I dont believe these moves are going to force Melo's hand. Not sure they are intended to do anything but rebuild. Melo isn't going to trade one unpleasant situation for another. I think he already proved that last season. Didn't take the first flight out of town, so to speak.

Melo is a very content fellow. He plans in riding his contract out there is no doubt in my mind. It's never been about winning with him.

If Ryan comes back, what's the point?

The point would be you are getting picks and a starter. That was what the goal was. Anderson isn't dog sh@t. He is just paid too much. The clumsy roster Makes it hard to take back a 4/5 but if the goal is to move Melo , I think that is enough to get it done.

Making $21m in 2019-2020.

Next Houston draft pick is 2020.

Only a starter if KP plays center.

I still don't see the point.

Keeping Melo > Having Ryan.

CORRECT> He isn't going anywhere, he is content to show up pound the ball. waste shot clock, shoot 6-21 for his scoring average to stay above 20. Happy Melo.

Going through the motions with Waiters among others is fine. Fact that we didn't try to move Lee is telling. That's $12-$13 million that could come off the books and won't. In two years with or without Melo, our cap should look pristine. KP may or may not stay but if he does he will be a bona Fide all star and Frank N and Wily will have developed. If I could bring on a Keith Smart I could. He's super roatarion or starter and is 23! Defense with he and Frank would be off the charts and once we find our own draftee SF in a top 5 pick we will be ready.

Think of the possible outcomes of Mills as GM over the summer. One of them being the typical Knicks rush to sign names regardless of their current production. Giving his successor nothing to work with because Mills got carried away. Trading away draft picks to shed contracts.

There are lots of things Mills could be doing that sets the franchise back another decade, but he isn't doing them as of now. Be happy for that.

Ive probably been the biggest Mills critic on this board, but Im not complaining that Mills is taking a conservative approach. Dont want him making most of the decisions that should be left to whoever gets the job full time. Sounds like he is sticking to a rebuilding plan to hand off to the next GM. So far so good.

In other words the knicks get back cap space and pure trash, then they will use the cap space to make a dumb Amare like signing next off season, because no premier player will want to come to a 20 win team unless you give him the sun, moon, and stars in terms of money

I really don't see the rush in getting him out if your not getting future pieces, not cap space...we are not a 1st destination for any FA.., what exactly is suppose to happen in the next season and half..

Stability or no stability free agents never came to NY at least never the top ones. Can anyone name one from their prime coming to the Knicks? Amare was damaged good who wanted one last big contract. You might have to go back to Houston but he wasn't really a top notch free agent. The Knicks have never caught the big fish. You can't always say they were bad or this or that. The real reason has always been because of media. Media doesn't want to say it, people don't want to believe it but it's the truth. Put yourself in a NBA players situation a top player and you could choose your destination. Your agent will steer you away from NY so fast. Who would want to deal with media circus here.
