Zen-master Phils attempt to build some kind of basketball culture has actually made things look worse. MEH! I see no comparison between Isiah and Phil. I actually think Phil is right about finding players that aren't TAINTED by AAU mentality and NBA Entitled lifestyle! I actually don't think Phil's interpersonal skills are a match for the type of BIG BABY types in the NBA. Popovich, Riley, Carlisle, Thibs, Van Gundy don't mess around either. LMA is trying to get out of San Antonio. WHY? According to a person with knowledge of the Spurs forward’s situation, it’s the 31-year-old’s unhappiness in San Antonio that is the driving force behind the Spurs’ trade talks on Thursday. The five-time All-Star, according to the person, is hopeful that San Antonio can find a better fit for his talents.https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nba/2017/06/22/lamarcus-aldridge-frustration-spurs-exploring-trade/420644001/ To many of these players are too worried about their brands or having to sacrifice, than actually buying into what it takes to win. Now as for Phil's attempts at building a culture, that hasn't been totally a failure with his teams. Mainly it's the RESISTANT mentality of a few Vets that have caused the problems. Now we'll have far fewer of those kinds of guys going forward. That may help the overall CULTURE to change. |
