Just heard Phil's live interview with Trautwig on MSG, and he seems to be really upset with KP over skipping out on the exit interview meeting and kept harping on it.

He said that in his 30 years of coaching, he has never had a player skip out on an exit interview meeting before (maybe other coaches but never him; hello EGO), and he was surprised by it.

He also said the reason they've been fielding offers for KP in recent days is because he skipped out on the meeting and it prompted other GM's to gauge the availability of KP thinking that there's discord with him and management.

He also shockingly said that he's tried to reach out to KP overseas and hasn't been able to reach him over the phone (is KP really ignoring Phil's calls? If so, that's super childish and immature).

Phil was really candid here and showed some contempt for KP rejecting him in a way. We always knew he had a huge ego and it was definitely on full display here. He said he's going to do what's best for the organization and the future. Based on that interview, I would NOT be surprised if he were traded--although I think it would still take a lot to for Phil to pull the trigger.
Or he could be just trying to light a fire under KP through the media. Either way, that interview was kinda cringe worthy.

Everyone knows im a big KP fan but he has done some stupid things since the season ended. The exit meeting,the model etc.. even melo had a meeting with phil and he hates phil. I dont think he will be or want him to be traded but he has to fix some issues

Phil is not stupid if he can get a 4 and booker and maybe a bender....I will pack KP bags...
Phil has an ego but he is the boss...what KP pulled was bs....so I look at this to ways....either trade KP and get a nice package or put his ass on notice with this trade talk...

This is a players league. If I were James Dolan, I would pull the trigger and fire Phil ASAP before he has a chance to trade KP. Allow the rest of your staff to draft the right player then search for the right GM. No, that GM is not Isiah Thomas nor is it Steve Mills.

I understand KP is being super immature and he should be reprimanded the minute he gets state side. You cannot trade him for this though. He is a big man who has the chance to become a star and players like that can turn your franchise around.

PS: If I were KP, I would get your ass back state-side, ASAP. Take the heat and clear the sheot hole up. Do not play for your National Team. I understand that's important but right now, you have an obligation to your club.

I agree 100% but I don't trust Phil. Like I also implied, KP needs to grow up and grow a set of balls. Talk to your boss when there is heat on you. You'll only gain respect from him and heal sheot up.

I agree. KP reacted to a bad situation but he is 21. Phil is still seeking payback two months later and he is willing to move his best player to get it. Phil is managing based on feelings/ego. It will only hurt the Knicks.

That is right. Phil was very candid. He wants to repair things with KP. Listening to offers to see if anything blows him away. But it's obvious he expects him to remain on the team. I don't agree with how he is handling this, but he is clearly not trying to trade him.

When Phil is making decisions on players he has moved on from it hasn't turned out well.

No he would not. You don't fire a probable shining star over first time immaturity issues. Punish? Yes, definitely. Fire? No. Most companies are more lenient than that.

Exactly...someone else gets it. Im far from a phil fan but he isnt stupid. He isnt just gonna give KP away. Truthfully i dont believe that booker/pick 4 rumor....i think phil would want more
