I have a feeling he's our guy.... I also think Mitchell is our second target if we can get another pick.

Anyway, Justin is smart, skilled and athletic. He is a team player and can function well within asn offense. I love the guy. He's like Tashaun Prince or Batum ...to keep it knick related Johnny Newman.

Watch the whole thing, but the reason I want this guy more than anyone now is what he said in the last minute of this video. This is a good high character guy.

not a super athlete. Wouldn't mind with a 2nd 1st round pick but definitely not at #8

From scouts opinions---
Justin Jackson, 6’8” junior forward, North Carolina

“Love his ability to come off screens and knock down midrange shots. Great kid. The main concern is what kind of defender he’s going to be and whether he can get open looks because of his slow foot speed. Is he going to be a consistent worker? He’s got a great floater game and I thought he tried hard on defense. If that carries over, he’ll be a good piece. I wonder if he’s too nice. He’s not the toughest kid.”

It says on the front page in an article that his workout with Phil was "more mental than physical". If we've seen any of the old "Zen Master" in Phil since he got here, its been in the drafting process the last few weeks IMO.

Really like Justin. He has the look and feel of a Phil guy. TEAM oriented. High BBIQ. Skilled and tough mentally. I think he'd fit right in and make the team better. MY thoughts have been that Phil is targeting him with a 2nd pick. Just how he gets that pick and how high it will be is the question.

I like him but not at 8. If we do get him with an additional 1st rounder, I guess a question could be would you take him or Donovan Mitchell or luke Kennard?

I think this is the case for a second first round pick.

I would not be surprised if the Knicks drafted Justin Jackson. Both Phil and Horny have a stated preference for more developed prospects. Jackson is also ALWAYS described a 'cerebral'. Phil said he is looking for exactly that instead of 'guys that can jump out of the gym.' I've heard some people compare Jackson to Tayshuan Prince... he wasn't exactly a stud but definitely far from a disappointment and a player you can win a championship with

I would take Mitchell... but we all know this

If the Knicks can get one of those Portland picks, I think Phil will target Jackson with that pick

This kid can play basketball... he's not going to give you above the rim highlights that you can jerk off to on ESPN at 2am... but the guy makes hard cuts, passes and shots very well... he's a high character guy. Hess absolutely a winner. We need this guy on our rebuilding team.

No way we draft him at 8. If we pick up another pick in the teens, I can see it.

Well, we do need a replacement for Melo....this would be a classic Isiah pick at 8.But you're right. I don't think Gaines would reach that far back.

You have to pick the guy you want.... you can't pick a guy simply because the mock drafts on the internet say he should be picked at 12 instead of 8...

Let's say the Knicks can't make a trade... who do you pick? Everyone likes Frenchy...ok fine after him you have 3 solid big man prospects. After them is where Mitchell and Justin are projected to be plucked. What the problem is?

It's not just mock drafts,it's intuition. The Collins bigs have a chance to be more impactful as starters IMHO. Even still, if our scouts have Jackson rated higher, than I could live with the pick. But you know as well as I do that most scouting departments won't take the risk unless it's a situation like San Antonio. Phil seems to be in FU mode, so who knows....

My take on Jackson in the pros

Not a good enough jumper to be a 2 guard(which is where he needs to play)
Not athletic enough to be an NBA 3 man
Weak lower body with almost no explosion
Jack of all trades master of none.
If he really had a great jumpshot--Id go the other way--but after 3 years--he doesnt. He an NBA 3 who will have trouble playing guys his own size who are faster stronger more athletic.

Like others have said if we are able to get a second first rounder then I would be for it. But at * it would be a big reach especially with the other talent on the board
