Kid is the ultimate glue hard nose defender always in the right spot at the right time... there's a reason his Wichita state teams were so good. He's like Aaron judge in the fact he improved at every level after year one ... I fully expect Ron to work hard on becoming a dead eye from outside this off season . Having Ron allows us to select the best player available at 8 not just the best pg .

If Ron baker is our starting pg on opening day I won't be disappointed.

I totally agree. He is missing that consistent outside shot to be a quality starter in the NBA. He is a rookie this year and his play has been a godsend.

he's earned a 2nd look and should compete for the rotation. He's a good player to challenge others as well as he defends very well. Its a very small sample size, we will see if he takes a step forward or not. I certainly like his approach and he's in the mix.

I think we should pencil him in as starter next year IF he's keeping his end of the deal by practicing his jumpshot every day all summer.
He has all the intangibles. When he was playing well, our D was better and the ball moves.
I think he is limited with talent but he makes up for it. Yes, glue guy. He can be that guy.

If we draft Monk, I start Baker/Monk/KP/Willy for sure. 5th starter is either Melo or if we trade Melo for a younger 3.

Baker is most definitely a player I expect to make a nice jump in year two! I saw his tough D and smart PG play improve but also his confidence on offense came back towards the end of the year. The kid does have Offensive ability and I expect him to be better next season.

He drives and finds the open man well.
It's the shot. He is left open and can't convert. Can't get away with that in today's NBA.
So he has to work on his shot and be able to do what Dellavedova or a Derek Fisher were able to for their teams as starters.
It's about the work now. Same for KP and Willy. Lets see how much these 3 young guys really want to be good winning players on the Knicks.

I'm not really worried about Baker's shot! From his form it's really only a matter of work and confidence. I noticed his confidence in his offense picked up. He's a scorer that just seemed to lose his confidence. I saw that spark come back.

He is a project at best. I doubt he's in the NBA 5 years from now.
Nixluva is posting triangle screen grabs, even when nobody asks - Fishmike. LOL So are we going to reference that thread like the bible now? "The thread of Wroten Page 14 post 9" - EnySpree

doesn't know how to avoid traps on offense, dismal shooting percentages and only interested in playing defense. not a 2 way player for sure. the bright lights of nyc are not for him...i can see him sticking around under the tutelage of spurs coaches or a small city like OKC. but if he's traded to big cities...i dont think he has the nerves to stick around.

Everything will improve, he is the best young guard NY has had in a long time. He is better than Gallo, Lin, Shump, TD, or Fields. Baker is going to be a slightly below all star caliber guard. He is the next Brogdon but he just needs a few more years to become Brogdon.

If you don't know know you know.

Lol.

How many times has this line of thinking burned us in the past. The goal should always be to create competition and let the cream rise to the top. We want Baker to earn that spot because he beat someone f quality out for it.

who have the knicks ever develop, their draft picks suffer yrs of losing then traded, or never resign. mosgov, gallo, chandler, lee, nate, douglas, THJ, Langston, lin, ariza, fields, shump.

But if we were winning 48 to 52 games, and those guys had minor roles where you can bring them along slowly, we would be much better at developing players.

think about how Charlie ward sat on the bench for 2 season behind guys like Harper and doc rivers, not to mention a winning culture, thats how he stood around for 7 to 8 yrs, not throw him into the frey and say play through your mistakes..once the scouting report is out, the league will feast on your weaknesses (see lin)

Kp should have had at least a yr or 2 coming of the bench behind a solid c/pf, instead of leading the league in fouls. It's just a certain way I see other teams develop players that this franchise ignores, and it's not just phil, it's every GM we've had since the Ewing ERA
