isnt happening in todays NBA--thats why I dont get A Davis and Cousins. KP and willy can be COMPONENTS but main cogs? Nope. Good solid pieces.

I donjt even believe KP can handle 100 games 35 minutes. I think he can do 26-30 minutes as a part of a good team.

You still need good players... we happen to have Kristaps and Willy with a draft that's filled with point guards, shooting guard and small fwds....

when you say "today's NBA" are you talking about the Warriors win 2 years ago? I mean its Lebron. Spurs with their old guys won one a couple years ago. After that its Phil Jackson Lakers etc...

If you are talking "today's NBA" Larry Brown's Pistons would be great team. This thread is a like a fart from the Briggs conscience

Disagree about KP. He will get stronger and more durable. Most championship teams have an elite big man. Can't just look at golden state and say this is how you play today. The NBA is a copy cat league but it's not the end-all, be all.

Yeah I mean if you're starting with KP and Willy and then adding the PG, SG and SF of the future going forward that's how you build a team. I can't imagine anyone thinks you can win without upgrades to the backcourt. This is the beginning of the process of rebuilding.

You have to have play makers and play makers are usually PG, SG and SF. The Knicks need to add passer, ball handler and scorers from those positions also play defense. Just having and building around KP and Willie won't suffice.

I said I didn't get the AD and Cousins trade - it doesn't make sense for today's NBA.

You need an all-star PG and another top tier wing if you want to compete.

Toronto - Lowry and DeRozan
Boston - Thomas, Smart, Bradley, Brown
Cleveland - Kyrie, Lebron, they really miss JR
Golden St - Steph, Klay, Livingston
Clippers - CP3, Reddick, Crawford
Houston - Harden, Beverly, Gordon
Washington - Wall, Beal
San Antonio - only real outlier but have Parker, Kawhi, Green, Ginobili, Mills
Utah - Hill, Hood, Hayward


The guy we get in the draft this year will determine our fortunes over the next 5-10 years more than anything else. If we can add an elite guard to KP, we will be much better. But we probably need to add two elite guards in the 2017 and 2018 drafts. It's really the only way.

Lebron is a point guard in Karl Malone's body. True outlier. You can't compare him to anyone else because there's only one Lebron.

Additionally Lebron only started winning when he was paired with another elite guard like Wade or Kyrie. You need two elite guards.

I actually like SA model the best because its durable. We are already on that path too. You need big men and good ones--but Unless we have Tim Duncan cant be the center piece. Also Noah is a dinosaur now--I dont even count him

Not with Melo as the focal point. Now you actually have that young player in KP to start with. Basically, NY finally has an excuse to actually do a real rebuild.

It happens to be a guard's league right now, but there are no elite guards under the age of 25. Maybe this draft replenishes that guard crop a little bit, but the elite young players are all bigger players. Towns, Davis, Greek Freak, Porzingis, Embiid (health permitting), and Jokic. This is the future of the NBA. It's moving back towards the big man, only a different breed. Big men that can shoot and guard the rim. The Unicorn Era as some are referring to it. Guard play is always going to be needed, and we need to get our PG situation right, but seems like history will always repeat itself, and big man dominance will come back around when this group of guards moves beyond their prime years.

Nothing has really changed. Elite players win. There are more better wings now, that is the only difference in "today's NBA."

I mean if you were 6'6, could play some D and hit the 3 you used to be a SG. Now you can be SG, SF or PF, so there are a LOT more guys like that in the league.

The Pelicans will be fine if they can get some players. The problem isnt Brow/Boogie, its that after JRue Holiday they have nobody.

The only other thing I can see is if you stink at guard your getting smoked every night. If your bigs stink you are only getting smoked every other night. Bottom line is that teams that win titles dont have holes. There is plenty of size on Cle.

Agreed, We have good young talent up front, time to focus on getting talent in the back court. It doesn't matter where the rebuild starts, as long as we continue to build in the areas needed.

Plus let's be real, the rebuild starts when you draft a KP!!! It hasn't been 5 years of rebuilding. It's still very much the beginning of the rebuild.

I agree... there is some real pressure to get a blue chip wing in the draft, and it will be tough as those guys (god forbid) may need some time to develop. All these great guards coming out are 18-19 year old freshmen. Its going to take time, but getting one would be a start.
