go 2-25 our last 27 games and get a much needed top 3 pick
Forget about trading Melo-- the atmosphere is toxic. Let him play 20 minutes with some days off to conserve his body

And lastly see if we can swap Noah for even a bad or hurt player if we can cut the contract size

Let's tank every year! Seriously, I don't disagree but I'd like to get out of as many of our overpaid vets' contracts as possible. It's probably going to take too much time and effort to trade Melo and subtract from time that could be spent on other moves, though. Noah is the team's worst contract.

Interesting point about taking too much time to trade Melo. If the Knicks are going all in for youth trading Lee would not be hard to do. I think Jennings is another player that could easily be traded. Buying out Rose might be the right move after the deadline. Also, do you move O'Quinn? I think then Melo is moved before the draft if he is willing to waive his ntc. The vets brought in to win would be gone other than Noah.

We don't need maximum cap room- shift Melo, trade or Waive Rose, and we have more than enough to use. Why do we need more than $30, $40mil free? Noah's contract is red herring, I don't know why people are obsessed with it.

We definitely should trade Rose. He is not the PG for the future of this team and we should try to get something for him. I agree with keeping Melo. Unless a good deal comes along, we might as well allow him to play out his deal. By the last year of his contract, he will bring in a lot in trade value due to the high expiring salary. We definitely should be tanking. There are five pgs in this draft who are better than Jennings and who could really improve the team.

It's because Noah is such a terrible player and has such a bad contract. I would much rather have that open cap space than him but I wouldn't be willing to give up assets just to get rid of him.

you do not have to trade either one because both Jennings and Rose help with the tank but if some stupid team comes calling or if they can convince a team to take rose?Jennings then of course you trade them even if its only for future 2nd rounders.

Also, I like Baker but if he doesn't improve on offense he will be out the league soon. Visually his defense looks good but that could be the not Rose/Jennings effect. We could be overrating his actual defensive abilities. To me it looks like he has a quickness issue when guarding 1s so he will have to improve on that and work on using his size and length to his advantage.

I didn't necessarily say cap room. If you can get a player who helps the team win more than those guys do or if you can get draft picks, it's worthwhile. We're paying Rolex prices for imitation Rolexes with these guys though, and if you can get out of it, that's better than continuing to overpay. If Phil actually learned from his mistakes, he will make better decisions with newly acquired cap space (if we do get cap space for the players). A smart GM should be able to get 2 or 3 guys who are EACH BETTER than Noah for the price of his contract. KOQ and Willy are already better than he is and they together make less than him. Same idea applies to Melo and Lee.

Agreed on Baker but Briggs was actually saying to play him in order to help with tanking.

KOQ might actually have trade value and doesn't fit if we're keeping Noah and Willy. If they were going to trade KOQ, they should have played him more to inflate his #s though. I wouldn't trade KOQ unless I was certain I couldn't get out of Noah's contract.

Yeah, I like KOQs contract but I'm not sure he fits with KP and Willy. Ideally I'd love to move Noah and Willy and somehow land Noel. Not realistic at all, I know.

I am pretty certain the knicks are stuck with Noah unless he decides to retire. The problem with O'Quinn is that he has one year left on his deal basically so if you can get a 1st you might as well get a 1st while you can. The Noah injury might be the best thing to happen for his trade value. I doubt there are many back up bigs that avg almost 3 asts/13 rebs/3 blks (per 36) like Kyle.

Yeah that makes sense. KOQ is a steal at this price but if he's gonna get like 12 mil per or even more, I'd pass. His defense isn't strong enough. They should have been playing him more though to boost his #s.

Let's see what kind of value Rose has- he's younger than Melo will be then, he's adept at getting his own shot and driving to the basket, which is a premium come play off time.

I suspect there will be no deal worth taking for Rose. We overpaid for him this summer, and I think we'll be stuck with him.

The question is why havnt coach Phil/Fisher/Rambis/Horn been giving Quinn steady playing-time when Quinn's big-body performance in the paint help out teammates more than Melo n KP wing performance put together?
Quinn is a natural NBA PF who belong in a lineup with Lopez or Noah or Willie to control the Glass n Paint but Dolan's PUPPETS Phil/Fisher/Rambis/Horn has put Quinn on Spot minute playingtime for two seasons

U serious, he makes a 6th of the cap and he is the 4th best center on the team. I would trade a pick to get rid of him

I disagree, yes he gets you assist but that's it. You don't lock yourself into multiple years for a player like Jennings.

If he comes back at a good price why not ? He's a good backup capable of starting at times and making plays. What else are you looking for from a backup PG?
