for 4 years. Way way worse than signing Amare to a max. We would have the same record(or maybe better) if we signed Seth Curry and Christian wood combined for two years for 4mm. We spent 30mm dollars on what realistically are back ups. Its like signing a max player and they get hurt. Im not even sure if we need Noah here as a back up--we have Willy and Oquinn

How so? What big FAs are you signing?

Lee is very movable, anyways.

Timing wise, it's going to take KP another 2 years to become elite, if we draft high this season, it will take our rookie a few years- we don't need big cap space for a while

I hated their signing - hated the rose move. we should have just tucked in around the edges- maybe sign jennings - retain Derrick Williams - keep flexibility until we were really one or two pieces away.

Melo comes off the books in 2 offseasons. Cap space isn't a problem at all- this isn't the IT era

Lee's contract is good in today's NBA. If the team wanted him dealt for a late 1st round pick I think they could easily get that. He is one of the best 3 point shooters in the league. We should keep him for value, but off the bench. Start someone with better defense and energy.

Noah's contract is bad. Plain bad. Going to be tough to deal that one. Just move him to the bench and give him limited minutes with maximum effort. He would be much better and useful having to come off the bench than start. Who starts then? KP? KP may or may not be ready. We'll see.

Why does it have to be one 30 mil player? Lousy teams don't get those big name players. They only have two options: badly overpay for veterans who don't even help the team or get many good-bargain players at lower prices like KOQ and KUZ. We mostly do the first option and it kills our flexibility for many years.

Seriously, what is the problem?

We can clear a max slot this offseason, then melo (even if we don't trade him) opts out after next season, so that's another $26mil. We're not in salary cap hell. We also have some good value bench pieces for a few years (Kuz, Willy, KOQ)

I agree (at least for bad teams) but you can get good role players for $4 mil. If you're gonna spend 15 mil, you better end up with at least 3 good role players.

It sucks cuz the Knicks already have players that can step in and replace both players on the roster.... willy and burgundy.

Would be nice to flip Lee and Noah some kinda way

This is the aftermath of maxing out an again Carmelo Anthony a 2nd time. This was very clear to many. Many who no longer post here because of it. Running on a tread mill. Making bad deals for other teams scraps and cast offs. Par for the course for this New York Knicks organization of course. Phil feel right into the familiar trap is with pressure of his legacy weighing on his broad shoulders. Foolishly thinking patch work is all we needed to contend year in year out. Aided and by the owner James W. Dolan of course.

Cap increase was irrelevant as Melo was already on the downside of an already lengthy NBA career. Nothing left to do but wait it out yet again. Hey maybe we will finally get it right for the first time in nearly 20yrs.

It's so easy to make a thread after you see what the team is doing and say what we should or shouldn't of done.

the complete cluster is you trade Robin Lopez who played 82 games at center. Who The F does that anymore? Every game! And you trade him in essence for 2 injury ridden players that have a ton of minutes and injuries in the immediate recent past.

And they cost you way more for basically maybe the same production? Certainly our WL is comparable or worse than last year.

And what you see with Noah is probably as good as it's going to get. He is only downhill from here.

It's so easy to make a thread after you see what the team is doing and say what we should or shouldn't of done.

He was against Noah and Lee trade this summer. He loves Curry. lol I agree with him on Noah. Liked Lee signing. But again, its a forum where you discuss mistakes, not claim to see the future.

Noah made no sense with the years. Would have made more sense to max Harrison Barnes and move melo to the 4 slot.

Lee is fine. Every wing in the nba that can knock down a three pointer is over paid. he's an easy piece to move. Noah is going to be productive for 1 season and then dead weight.

It's amazing how we keep recreating the same team after we pretend to rebuild.

Its amazing how we have GM that finally values the draft, didnt trade the lottery pick, drafted a star player and has refused to trade future picks, yet the fan base says its just recreating the same team year after year. Maybe we should trade KP for Harrison Barnes.

Yet they still can't explain why Noah's contract is crippling! They just assume we're in cap hell and don't realise we have a pretty good cap situation.

We have our picks
We have cap space
We have a young cornerstone


We're good, I would have loved to make the playoffs, but a top pick will heal the wounds
