There is zero reason why the bulls would do that deal and not get back multiple 1st for Butler if they trade him. Butler is playing like a top 10 player so he is not going anywhere unless the Bulls get the deal of a lifetime

Melo's deal makes him almost impossible to trade. The trade kicker is 11 mil and is averaged into the final 3 years of his deal. That puts him at around 31 mil for the final year of his current deal. He also has say in where he goes if a trade were to happen.

Trade just doesn't make sense at all....

We all want that Jersey pick. I put up a trade a few days ago with the Knicks and Celtics. Send them Melo for Jaylen Brown, Amir, Jerebko and the Jersey Pick...that's a good trade

This is way more than what I think we can get for Melo.

Celtics fans are like nah to those trade scenarios..... I'm like "ya'll wanted to trade 7 picks for Justice Winslow last year STFU!"

The algorithm gives and the algorithm takes away

Don't discount Mark Cuban.

I could see something along the lines of Melo, Lee, and Plumlee for Matthews, Bogut, and Harris AND the right of NY to swap picks with Dallas in both the first and second rounds of the draft (presumably Dallas will finish lower).

Cuban unloads his dirty laundry, we unload ours, Cuban maintains picks in the draft.

Yep, why would the Bulls trade a player who is younger, better and plays defense for an over the hill, defense-free Melo on the decline who's on a higher contract?!

These trades all suck. I only thought that the third one involving the Cavs was redeemable even though it'd be hard to see them trading Kevin Love fresh off a championship. But given LeBron's affinity for Melo, I would never say never on what would amount to a K.Love for Melo swap- especially if the deal produces a backup PG in the mix.

If the groundwork for that type of deal were possible, I'd expand it to include the Nets and Celtics. Personally, I have no interest in Kevin Love the player and would immediately attempt to pawn him off to the Celtics since they desperately need a bonafide scorer next to Isiah Thomas. In exchange for him, I'd demand Terry Rozier be included to send to CLE and Jaylen Brown for the Knicks. I'd also demand pick swaps with the BKN picks for 2017 and 2018 drafts. Doing so will maximize our ability to get a top tier pick during crucial stages of our rebuild. Any auxillary costs (i.e. Tyler Zeller and James Young) would be redirected to the Nets who desperately need talent. In effect, the deal would be

Knicks Trade: Carmelo Anthony
Knicks Recieve: Jaylen Brown, Richard Jefferson, $17 million in savings and the right to swap picks with BKN in 2017 and 2018.

Celtics Trade: Tyler Zeller, Jaylen Brown, James Young, Terry Rozier and pick swaps to NY in 2017 and 2018
Celtics Recieve: Kevin Love

Cavs Trade: Kevin Love and Richard Jefferson
Cavs Recieve: Carmelo Anthony and Terry Rozier

Nets Trade: cap space
Nets Recieve: Tyler Zeller, James Young and $3 million cash incentives (via Knicks)

I'm not sure if Terry Rozier would be a compelling enough a talent to intrigue the Cavs as their backup PG but if not, the deal could be rewired to include the Pistons (and Ish Smith) instead of the Celtics.

Knicks Trade: Carmelo Anthony and Brandon Jennings
Knicks Recieve: Stanley Johnson, Richard Jefferson, $18 million trade exceptions, DETs 2017 unprotected first round pick and protected 2019 first round pick

Cavs Trade: Kevin Love, Richard Jefferson and Jordan McCrae
Cavs Recieve: Carmelo Anthony and Ish Smith

Pistons Trade: Tobias Harris, Stanley Johnson, Ish Smith as well as their 2017 first round pick and protected 2019 first round pick
Pistons Recieve: Kevin Love and Brandon Jenninga

Nets Trade: cap room
Nets Recieve: Tobias Harris and Jordan McCrae

Boston will not trade a #1 pick in the draft for Melo. They are smart. Unlike us.

If if we were to do a crazy trade, why not keep Melo and instead trade Rose for CP3? With an understanding that we would resign him to a monster contract and either win a chip with him and his best buddy Melo, or get stuck with an aged PG making $30m per year. The potential long term downside is there, but may be worth a gamble.

As for the Clips, they would be better off by not having to sign an aging PG to a long term max contract, plus have the option of re-signing a younger star PG who will get along with Blake better.

Melo re-affirmed to phil that he will NOT lift his no trade clause. So trade scenarios involving melo are useless. lol

Knicks should be improved: win about 40 games and maybe sneak into the playoffs. Melo, Rose and even Noah will have some nice moments however this team should be about PORZINGUS. the sooner they make him the primary player, the better

Clippers are a contender. Why would they do that especially for such little value?

He didn't exactly say that. He just said he intends to stay.

Paul is out injured until March, and will opt out of his contract at the end of the season and ask for a 6-year mega monster deal. Rose gives them someone who is active, and a younger star PG option to re-sign in the offseason, with whom they could remain a contender for a longer time.

For the Knicks it gives a two year window to win a chip with a Melo-CP-KP superteam, at the price of spending the following 3-4 years in capped out purgatory.

I would prefer a more prudent approach. I feel like every time we gambled, we lost.
