His shot selection is not good.We are calling him the future of the Knicks and we really don't know that. I've been waiting over 40 years or more for a championship. Melo is just one man on this team. He can't guard 5 players at once. Yet everything is Melo's fault. I see no one in the future draft is a Lebron like or Jordan like. Just some real good players. The real problem is New York, the press and drama. We chased Ewing out and now it's Melo. I will be glad when he leaves so all you Melo haters will see just how bad this team really is with out Melo. So you think you can get a superstar in the draft? Who will that be? With our luck they better fix the balls

Melo's age and declining ability combined with being stuck where we have been the last 4 years is why you trade him.
Even if we didn't have KP, I'd say trade him.
Heck, having KP makes me think twice about dealing Melo, because KP and Melo have shown good chemistry especially last season when Melo was playing the point forward role.

I just don't see the benefit in having Melo lead 30-35 win teams every season until his contract ends. In trading Melo we would likely seal ourselves as a team that will draft in the top 6 of 2017 draft. We would likely get one or two longterm assets. KP is one of those assets. He is not the reason you trade Melo or expect to hand him the team.

I wish things were different, but I see little solution. Knicks tried getting some veteran players to appease Melo. Hell we brought Chicago to him, the team he wanted to sign with in 2014. It's just not working out. The right move is to trade Melo. Now will Melo waive his NTC? Will we get a decent enough deal to make a trade? I don't know. If no, then we're just stuck where we are until Melo's deal expires or KP blows up into a superstar (which may or may not happen).

He is not playing like a superstar because he is 21. The Greek freak is in year 4 and he is finally there. If at year 4 KP is no better than that's one thing, but he is on pace to be a superstar. He's way ahead of dirk at the same age in year 2. Need to have patience. Hes ahead of pace for anything we could ever expect. He will get there. Work ethic is there. You won't find a real basketball person out there who doesn't think he becomes a star.

Totally agree, KP needs minimum 2-3 maybe 4 years to reach his prime, he is still a kid, he is still growing, and he all ready is a star player, will he ever be a superstar, only time will tell.

Agreed. Knick fans never learn. I for one will not call for his head. I never have with Melo either. We need to be supportive of our stars. And KP could be the best yet. His talent and potential is thru the roof.

KP reminds me of myself in that I developed later than others. People have different speeds that they develop at physically. Lebron is the rare freak that develops super early and KP is kind of at the other end of the spectrum in terms of him filling out. Embid is a completely different body type. KP will eventually fill into his frame. I did all my growing in one summer! It was crazy how big I got so quick after being undersized. KP may have a similar maturation burst.

Part of the problem is the media & us fans over hype a player like KP and where we think he's going to be.

I think it's fair to be a bit reserved and concerned with some of the injury things. Does he fill out, and continue to develop into that special talent- or is he shawn bradley 2.0? Or somewhere in between?

I mostly agree. There's no way to know how much if at all he improves. He could be a superstar but could also just be a top 50 NBA player. It's smarter to think of him as a player to build with rather than around. You're right that the injury is concerning and the shot selection is not great. He's only making about 35% of his 2 pointers that are beyond 3 feet from the basket.

Bradley averaged 20/7/2 in his second season? Seriously that's a crazy comparison.

i understand what you are trying to say about his injuries...its definetly a concern but his ceiling/talent is not a concern. If he stays healthy he will be a star. He has the talent and he is a rare seven footer who can move and shoot Like a guard. As for melo we havent exactly won with him to be fair. He is also getting older and his game has started to be inconsistent. Its the smart move to trade him.

Yeah the star thing should not be in question. Has there ever been a guy who averaged 20 and 8 at age 21 that didn't become a perennial all star? As for the injuries, I don't see a concern. Most guys don't play 82 games per year. Maybe he's just one of those players that will miss 10-15 games per year due to minor stuff. But otherwise, I see no concerns. Can't expect a guy to play 82 games every year.

I'll go on the record now as saying that if the Knicks make a typical Dolan/Phil/Layden/Isiah move, they will be bad after trading Melo too.
When I post here, I discuss the moves I want them to make, not what I think they will do. Freeing up that cap space and potentially getting other assets is a GREAT opportunity but the Knicks probably will blow it.

There should be absolutely no question, KP is a player to build around. A franchise caliber player. There is probably only 10 teams or so in the league that wouldn't trade us their best player for an opportunity to build around kp. That's a fact. Talent is limitless.

Of course nothing is guaranteed. Let's say he is on pace to be a player to build around and the team should operate as such.
