You're not allowed to talk about the Knicks defense, because it's not fair to be mean to Rambis here.

But I agree - the defense will be the difference between merely getting to the playoffs and actually being able to do anything there.

IMO if your a poor defensive team, You should be top 5 in offense team..17 million dollar Noah is becoming the death of the off season

Good post--its exactly what I was thinking myself--we were like just about the same.

This team is better than that 1--it will havce some staying power IF Rose can stay healthy.

Maybe some do believe but I do not think that C Lee is much of an upgrade over Affalo and the Noah experiment is not exactly grand.

The BIG upgrade for this year has been the play of BOTH Oquinn and Willy.

We have more depth. Holiday and Jennings is a much better bench than what we had.

It would be best if we could spend 1 more year in the lottery with this crop of PGs. Id rather a 10-12 year PG than a 41-41 season and 3-0 to the Cavs.

RIP Crushalot😞

Last year the knicks made it to 10-10 and 20-20 but never over .500 after 10-10.

This team is clearly better in every way than last year's team. I suspect that if Rose is past his back spasms this team can post a winning record. I'm hoping they can improve this defense going forward. I think having Rose back in the mix can help put things back in order.

Jeff has to seriously figure out what to do with Noah. If Noah continues to play poorly they can't let him take the team down. They have KOQ and Willy playing very good ball right now and even Plumlee looks like he's physically superior to Noah at this stage. It's a tough spot but they can't keep trotting Noah out there if he's ineffective. I think tomorrow is a big game for Noah.

Why are we doomed to repeat last year? Because last years team had the same record at this point, we'll end up with the same record this year? It's a different roster-I don't understand your logic

our defense has gotten a lot better. Early on we were getting blown out and had a point differential of like -10 or so. That spelt doom. Now, it's only -3.1.

Right now- I see a team that has an above average offense with a moderately passable defense.

We certainly struggle to get stops when we need them. But we've had Melo for really the first time here in NY and maybe his career to hit game winning shots.

I think the biggest key is not defense, but whether Melo & Rose can actually stay healthy and put up good numbers. If they don't, we're sub 500 by the end of the year.

Im not saying we will, im only pointing to the fact that we haven't improved. The area's that we have improved in (point guard play) with rose and jennings, we now have a serious problem at (the center position) with noah, as oppose to lopez who was solid (played all 82 games last yr)

25 games is a small window to start making any conclusions, but we aren't trending upward just lateral.

Without Noah in decent form, we are not going to win certain games and were are not going to win consistent. I expected Noah to at least be playing at KOQ level, and anything we got out of KOQ and willy would be a bonus.

Your orginal premise was not correct. Our record was better a year ago. A year ago we hit .500 and lost games; this year the Knicks were just 14-10 and 3rd in the East until Rose had to miss games.

I'm a glass half full kind of guy for this squad; in spite of Noah not playing well and Melo being more off than on, KP and the younger guys have stepped up.

Coach Fish vs. Hornacek.

I'd say injury to Rose and Noah's slow start after 14-10 start is the difference from last year.
If it persists, we'll be lucky to stay at .500. That's about consensus for what many thought this team would do.
14-10 the kool Aid freely flowed and euphoria ensued. When you lose 3 in a row and the high priced Free agent is not working out its understandable to lay blame and extrapolate into the rest of the season as it being not a good trend.
At the same level, at 14-10 we had some thinking "east conf. finals!!!"

If Noah doesn't produce, we're a 500 team at best.. Did you watch the pics, and the break down of how bad we are on defenseit's, a little embarrassing dude.

If Noah plays poorly and Jeff continues to start him then yeah, but I don't think Jeff will let one player bring down the team like that. Noah has to play better or he's gonna lose his starting spot.

Noah has produced in like 1 game this year and at one point we were 14-10, 3rd in the East.

The Knicks D is absolutely embarrassing and if Noah were at the norm we'd expect, we'd be much better.

The solution with Noah is pretty simple, just sit him on the bench and OQuinn start. The real problem is that our offense does not seems to go without Rose, and Jenning clearly is not a starting caliber PG. We need to find a 3rd pg because Sasha and Baker are not point guards. That being said, this team is much better than last years team. We will finish at at least .500.
Trust the Process

The team in a plateau mode at it sorts thru injury to Noah and Rose is ok by me, and to be expected.

14-10 is a winning .580%, translates to about 48 wins. About what many predicted.
.500 is only 7 wins short, that likey the difference in no seed, to 6 or 7th seed.

Before the road trip Nalod spoke of injuries not as in "IF", but in "When" Thus is why I am Chill about it.
Noah had some form of "illness" a few weeks back. It was not disclosed. If he had flu, it would wipe him out for a bit.
Is he trying to gain strength or play thru an injury? I don't know.

I have much faith that this team stayed healthy all season long we could win 57 games. Laughable, I know. Not becuase of the talent, but because its not something that happens!!!!

And for really the first time in his tenure here, teams are leaving Melo with 1-1 coverage, consistently.
If Noah can continue to flash to the openings that Rose, Melo and KP produce, he's going to get going. With points and assists.

It really is a matter of the defense stepping up all the time, every game. I wonder if the Gints could spare Spags for a few games...

365 days ago, we had the exact same record
