Some guys i like:

OG Anunoby: Right now he's projected late lottery/mid 1st round. He's 6-8 240 with a 7'6 wingspan. He's athletic, can shoot, and defend. In a weaker draft he goes top 10 for sure because of his 3-and-D ability. He's a combo forward who would fit nicely next to Porzingis and Melo, similar to what we expect from Lance Thomas, except Anunoby will probably be much better. He is getting Kawhi Leonard comparisons because of his physical profile, which obviously isn't fair, but i could see him similar to a guy like Jae Crowder or Winslow, or as mentioned before, a significantly better Thomas. I think if you get a high quality role player in the 10-20 range, you did well. He should become that.

Grayson Allen: Every year there's a guy who hangs around in college basketball, has a great college career, but because he has been on the radar so long, people focus on what he can't do and forget what he can do. Allen is that type of guy. He can shoot, pass, and is tough, but scouts will be too focused on his lack of size and lateral quickness. But he probably turns out to be a pretty good NBA SG.

Tyler Lydon: Another combo forward who can shoot, rebound, and block shots. That combination would be the type of player you can put next to KP in a big lineup, or a smaller one.

Some 2nd round picks:

I don't see any PGs i would draft in the first round, as the 4 real good ones are projected to go top 10, and then there's a huge drop off. But Melo Trimble or Monte Morris could be good 2nd round prospects as future backup PGs. Alec Peters and Jabari Bird are 2 shooters who can always find a place in the league. The key in the 2nd round is to find guys with a great NBA skill and hope the rest of their game develops enough to be passable in other areas.

The way we are playing, we'll be in line for a top 5/10 pick.

Look at the relatively quick turn around of the Lakers. They got Randle in 2014, traded cash for pick 46 to get Jordan Clarkson, D'Angelo Russell and Nance in 2015, Brandon Ingram in 2016, made some very modest FA signings, and they look like they have a bright future.

We need to make some good picks in 2017 and 2018 and we can be right back in this. But we need several years of good picks, not just one. We got the home run in KP, now we need a few more base hits and maybe a double or two. Wouldn't mind another home run either.

The key for the Lakers was doing well with every pick. Nance and Clarkson were later picks, and are good role players. They have drafted 5 quality players in the last 3 drafts. We need to hit with our picks. With 2 2nd round picks, we need one of them to turn into a quality role player. The 1st rounder has to turn into an eventual starting player. Lakers lack a Porzingis-level player, but have a couple of guys with good potential, so they seem to be in good shape.

Lonzo Ball
Dennis Smith
Markelle Fultz
Isiah Briscoe
Deaaron Fox

I think this particular group of guys have potential to be future allstars one day. All of those players play with great speed, passing ability, athleticism, and can shoot a little.

I also am really a fan of Jayson Tatum and Miles Bridges, I think they are natural smooth scorers in the mold of Melo/Tobias Harris.
Tommorow is Duke vs Kansas and I think Jayson Tatum should be healthy to play that game

yeah, I like all those guys.

the good news is it seems like a deep draft.

whether we have pick 7 or pick 17, we should get a good player.

Allen would likely go second round no?

He's currently projected as a 1st rounder, but things can always change.

I think Rose is a rental, mainly because i don't think Phil will want to pay him what he wants. I think Jennings will come back on a reasonable contract and Phil will look to the draft for another PG or a bargain free agent along the lines of how we got Jennings this summer. With KP, Noah, and Willy, we are set at center for many years. With Lee, Holiday (seems like a good fit to resign) and Baker, i think we are set at SG for a few years. Evaluating the PGs and wings who can play next to Melo and KP in a smaller lineup are essential.

I say Rose is a rental but not for $$ reasons but for PG reasons. Dude's game is entirely built off of athleticism. He doesn't run the offense, he doesn't make smart or even good passes, his defense is suspect, his shot making capabilities are suspect.

And there are a couple of alternate avenues: Chris Paul, George Hill, Patty Mills, Jeff Teague, Shawn Livingston.
