favorite all time was this but with white stripe.
1974 I was twelve and my hoop team had brown shirts with white lettering.
Got some gold satin shorts (it was 1974!!!!!) and the puma's!!

In our league if you scored 12 baskets you were out of the game. It was "Scoring out". Foul shots not included. The "prestige" was "Scoring out" but the magic number was thirty points.
Not as easy as it sounds at 12 years old cuz you also could not be a ball hog, and if you were one a good team, had to keep the scoring balanced to keep everyone happy and win.
Now, if you were up and had 11 baskets on a not so good team, opposing team wanted you to get that 12th basket and get you out. Thus, they would go into a zone and leave you alone. I was a guard so If I did not have the ball they would double who ever had it and that rarely was good. If I had the ball, they would deny the 2nd best player.
When "Scoring out", the game would stop and that player had to come out. Usually to some applause as per tradition. It was cool. The puma's were cool. Get the win and score out with under a minute to go.
WWCD.....What could Clyde do?
then there were these.....

Pete Maravich never had a "Signiture" shoe, but he got paid well for these.
I had a pair of these also. In these, I did not give a phuch, Pete would score and entertain the crowd.
I was on a bad team. I would try to score out early. My team wanted it cuz if I left the game, more shots for them!
Age 14 I scored 73 pts on the Junior high Varsity team (grade 7-8-9) in a pair of these. Best basketball day in my life! No three point shot either.
Could not miss. Turnaround jumpshots from the corner, swish. Top of the key, Swish! 24pts in first quarter. My team was cool and fed me the ball to see how gaudy the total would be.
I was actually the back up point!!! Starter was sick that day and I killed it.

4 months later destroyed my ankle in a friends driveway playing on a pair of these...

My ankle never really healed for three years, I stopped growing, lost my innocence with girls and soon got my drivers license!
Always loved the game but when the ankle went, and I was always hurt, the competition passed me by and my boys all grew past 6 feet, I stopped at 5'9.
If these were around then.....
