B.Jennings--Could it be Jennings if he can show he can stay healthy and that he still has his athleticism? We know he wants to be here.
C.Paul (ETO)-- he's getting up there in age and hasn't been able to get some really good teams to the championship level yet.
K.Lowry (ETO)--no way Toronto lets him go and wouldn't doubt if he and D.Derozan have already decided to come back and play together.
S.Curry--We all know he isn't leaving GSW.
J.Teague--I don't think he signed a new contract with Indiana.
G.Antetokounmpo (RFA)--Yes he does play PG but i also see no way the Bucks let him go and he's probably still mad at the Knicks for not giving his brother enough of a chance.
Jrue Holiday--He gets hurt a lot but the kid can ball when healthy.
M.Carter Williams--Has not turned out to be what some thought he could be and can't shoot...not even free throws.
D.Scroder (RFA)--No way Atl lets him get away after trading Teague.
T.Evans---always hurt.
V.Oladipo (RFA)--He's probably gonna re=sign with OKC and be there starting SG especially now that D.Waiters is gone but he can and has played PG.

So again, if Rose can stay healthy next year and show he still has his speed and athleticism do you re-sign him for 4 years at max or close to max but most likely max contract or do you go elsewhere??

His speed and athleticism has everything to do with his knees and him being healthy though so i'm gonna need to see the Rose of old that can get by his defender with a quick first step like he was doing before his injuries.

Phil has been pretty sober about the chances of landing the big name FA. He's been operating in a way that shows he's not all in on the big name FA but instead has a plan to improve the team regardless of what that FA decides to do. So sure he'd welcome Westbrook but he isn't locking in like the Knicks did with Lebron. So it's not fair to say that the plan was Westbrook in 2017. It's more about keeping options open for Westbrook and other players including re-signing Rose.

What we do know is that he traded for Rose and didn't take a chance on the Free Agent Market to solve his starting PG needs. Until we see how Rose performs there's no way to say if he's gonna be the solution at PG or not and surely that is part of PLAN A as opposed to your belief that Phil was targeting Westbrook in 2017.

We do know that he traded for Rose. That is clearly an established fact. If the Knicks win and have success in the playoffs that only increases the chances that Rose is retained. A successful Rose could be considered Plan A and if he fails then Free Agents would be the Plan B. So no I don't think it's a lock that Phil was targeting Westbrook for 2017. That would mean that he has no intention of keeping Rose even if Rose had an MVP type season and the Knicks went to the ECF's. I don't believe that's the case.

And it was said that the reason he made the Rose trade was because they didn't think they had any chance to get M.Conley and the market for PG's after Conley was absolutely brutal. They wanted to get a PG in here badly so they took a chance on Rose. Now of course he's part of the plan since we just gave up Rolo and J.Grant for him and i never said he wasn't part of the plan but if they had a shot at Westbrook after next season which a whole lot of people thought we would of Phil would of signed him, he'd be an idiot if he didn't.

I think he left the option open if Westbrook was available but also realized Conley was not an option and would not be leaving Memphis. Setting it up so that he had Rose and Jennings on one year trials was brilliant in my opinion.

Westbrook knows he has a very special career and Thunder will still be respectable. He also has financial security. What is a chip worth? Also, no guarantee he moves to another team and wins there either.

Durant to warriors is unusual because few championship caliber teams have that kind of cap space. Really, it was quite an opportunity!!!! Maybe Warriors could have added greater depth by taking on more salary (trade barnes prior) and that might have been provided the depth when Bogut went down. Still, they won 73 darn games, they were up 3-1 AND had the cap space!! Then, then sign Durant.

Sorry, I know some think Durants did a wussified thing, but got to give warriors some serious credit!

what phil should do is focus the offense around the front court passing and playmaking abilities of his 3s, 4s, and 5s-- and try to find backcourt players who can in the following order of priority

1)defend the position
2)push the ball to create early offense
3)move without the ball and cut
4)make a good pass into the post
5)hit a decent percentage from 18-23 feet

courtney lee was a great pickup so far as these qualities are concerned. now the knicks need to find another guard who possesses these same attributes. pick and roll game and pocket passing would be a plus.

I would target Dennis Schroder if Rose and Jennings pan out poorly for us. (1) he can ball, (2) international players seemingly enjoy playing in NYC, and (3) Atlanta seemingly cannot hold on to any decent FA. I know he's restricted but I think a poison pill contract would work because I think the best is yet to come for that guy (unlike Lin where most believe we had witnessed his best)
