Yanks now have one of the best farm systems and will have significant salary coming.off the books this year and next (CC, Tex, Arod total about 70 mi). For a team with tons of cash and resources, this is a deadly combination. Hopefully they make smart moves to surround young core players with veteran leader types who produce (similar to moves they made in the 90s.....think Paul O'Neil, Scott Brocious types).
Yeah, I agree. I've been harsh on Cashman at times but it does look like he can make great deals when the Steinbrenners get out of the way. I hope they stay out of the way and let Cashman build long-term. It could be a deadly combination like you were saying.
I became a Yankee fan in the early 90's right after the mets decided to start sucking. I was to young then to figure out how things work, like building a dynasty.
When I saw all these trades happing, at first I wanted to puke, how dear this prick give us no shot at the playoffs this yr. But form all accords, the yankess are now close to contending then they were a wk ago, which still baffles me, because I don't watch minor leaguers, and i don't wacth college baseball, so i don't sht about elite prospects.
All I know is they yankess brought half of there championships, and it just seemed like the right thing to do.
