You can move an individual player that was part of a package deal. You just can't combine them with any other player in doing so. If I recall correctly, we did the same thing when we traded Wayne Ellington- originally part of our incoming package from the Tyson Chandler deal- for Quincy Acy, then of the Sacramento Kings.

....what can I say, the CBA is stupid.

In addition, teams cannot trade players under the following circumstances:

For two months after receiving the player in trade, if the trade aggregates the player's salary with the salaries of other players. However, the team is free to trade the player immediately, either by himself or without aggregating his salary with other salaries.

Basically means they can trade Calderon (or Lopez or Grant) straight up, just not part of a trade package involving multiple players.

It'll be interesting to see if they give up any assets to do move Calderon. If they don't (other than maybe cash), be prepped to have me say "I told you so!".

I read earlier that Calderon was traded to Lakers for player to be named with Bulls sending LAL 2 2nd rders so they had room to sign Wade

They sent two second round picks with him. They had to give up something for someone to take him. The Lakers reportedly did not send anything back.
