In case you haven't noticed (and I do hope you weren't watching), the Knicks Summer League team looked like the worst Summer League team in the history of all Summer League teams ever assembled after their first two games. They were simply unwatchable. They could not generate any offense and turned the ball over almost every possession.

Why?

They did not have a point guard the first two games. They tried Baker at the point, and we learned he is not a point. He may be a useful player, but he is not a ball handler or creator and should never be asked to play that role. He is an off guard who can play feisty defense and shoot the ball in spot up situations.

Insert Chasson Randle in Game 3 (he did not play in 1st 2 games because of a hip injury) And guess what? The Knicks don't only NOT look godawful, but they remain competitive the entire game and win in OT (something due to Randle playing alone).

Once Randle came in late in 1st quarter, the game changed. He is able to score, create and has a high basketball IQ coming from Stanford, where he set all kinds of school team records. The Knicks offense all of a sudden looked functional. He ended up with 24 point for the game. He played overseas last year in Czech, so he has some professional experience, but is still only 23 with upside.

I liked how he played with composure, could handle pressure and has a real smooth looking jumper and showed a clutch gene similar to Gallo (may be our next Gallo?)

Knicks also worked him out earlier this summer, so they definitely see something in this kid and like him.

He made a case for himself to not only get a training camp invite but potentially make the team. I am rooting for this kid because he prevented us from becoming the laughingstock of all Summer League teams and got us a win. The Chase is on for Chasson who is a paper chaser.

Sounds like a nice young prospect. I was wondering when he'd get a long look. I hope they bring him into camp. We need as much young talent as possible.

Absolutely agree. I was actually going to come and post about him. The team looked totally different as soon as he touched the ball. That's a sign of a good point guard

Wonder if they originally intended on starting him with Baker.

I had not known about his injury and thought he was just doing poorly in practice.

Read that his D was an issue in college...I thought he looked fine today. Wish he had played all 3 games, but you figure they know what he can do from practice.

Played overseas, you wonder if the experience changed him at all as a player.

A pleasant surprise.

I've unfortunately watched all 3 games so far and although the first two were tough to watch today's game was a really fun game to watch and yes this Chasson kid looked good out there, for him to play that well in his first game knowing how bad we were without him really says something about the kid. I'm looking forward to seeing how he plays the rest of the time in the SL and see if he makes the team. Greg Anthony was really talking him up during the game saying he can really score the ball but didn't hear a word about how he is defensively and he didn't look like too much on the defensive end today but these refs let you get away with so much in the SL that it's hard to judge a guys defense in the SL.

Yeah he went 6-9 today from 3.

He had 24 points---5 reb--5 ass---6 steals and went 2-2 from the line but had 4 turnovers.

Some college highlights...as far as I can see he never misses a shot:

Has a Psychology degree...which is most important.

I'm going to stick with my BJ Armstrong comparison.

Might feel he is under pressure to repeat this type of performance next game...will be interesting to see how he performs after the good start.

Kid seems to be a leader and smart. He's athletic with a near 40" vertical. I'd like to see him get a camp invite and maybe even one of those contracts that allow us to protect him.

Man,got to at least look at the guy if he was able to help this team win, seriously.

We have a few more games I think, so let's see if he keeps things up. We have, dare I say, a fairly deep team now and
would like to see a battle for the last 2 spots(?).

In Greece and unable to watch any of the summer league games. Is there a YouTube video of the summer league game specifically?
Nixluva is posting triangle screen grabs, even when nobody asks - Fishmike. LOL So are we going to reference that thread like the bible now? "The thread of Wroten Page 14 post 9" - EnySpree

I watched that 3rd Gane again... Randle made shots... he's not particularly good at passing and dribbling

Randle hitting shots vs Orlando, too. Guy looks like a confident offensive player.

He and Baker started today.

I think both get invited to camp.

So Justin Holiday,

Jrue Holiday can also be leverage for his brother, think we would only have his early bird rights and if he has a productive year, it may not be enough to keep him

there are quite a number of brothers in the league
That we could use and fit our team

Holidays

Seth Curry at 2year 6m total contract is very solid

Greak Freaks 3

Millsaps

Morris
