I bought this up in another thread but thought it might be a worthy topic to expand on.

With the NBA elite basically SAS, GSW and CLE, there are many teams on the fringe of either contending, or dropping a notch into obscurity. Parity exists more than ever.

Miami, ATL, Boston, Clippers, Rockets, Chicago and Washington have talent and assets but are not contending for many reasons. Boston and ATL are well coached but lack "Stars", Chicago's roster is unbalanced and Pau likely to leave and Noah not a good investment.
Rockets will be held hostage by Dwight who might decide to let him walk if Durant thinks Harden is better to be with then Westbrook.
OKC has a Durant decision this year, and Westbrook next.
Horford is free to roam from ATL as is Beal.
Miami is getting old but Wade is doing very well.
Clippers are not living up to expectations and Griffith is a trade asset.
In DC, John Wall is not excelling under the current scenario.
Toronto has our pick. Do they trade it for an immediate asset? package it for a higher pick or package for a more impactful player?
In NY All Star hat mogul Carmelo Anthony has a no trade clause which gives him control if he wants to move on.

Im blown away how the West has dropped where Dallas and Portland are playoff bound where Houston is on the fringe. In the east, Chicago is two games out with 4 to play.
Both of them are in need of some change and im not sure its pure coaching.

That said, if players are moving, Knicks could be a player if Melo is willing and able to land in a competitive situation in city he deems desirable. Three way deals happen so its not like Melo need end up in Boston for them to be involved. It was talked about Love to Boston, Melo to clev, and Youthier assets to Knicks for example. Dragic and Winslow for Melo. Griffith to Boston, Melo to clips, Youthier assets to Knicks.
Lakers in play for Westbrook for Russell and change if Durant bolts? Does Durant get traded? OKC need not win a chip to succeed but they need to be relevant.

John Wall in the triangle might elevate his game. A big PG who has a few tools to succeed. Not sure we do a straight deal with the Wiz but say Melo to Miami, Winslow and Dragic to Wiz........Etc etc
If Bulls let Pau and Noah leave they can sign Horford? What if we traded RoLo to Boston for a pick or two, and we sign Horford and Conley? (assume Dwil and Affalo bolt).

I have no idea what or if anyting might happen but you got some incredible parity in the NBA and if a team thinks they can break from the pack, they might have an opportunity to do so!

Shyt might fly this off season.........

The pot definitely needs to be stirred. Lets hope that Melo comes to his senses and looks for a better destination. I know it may not benefit the Knicks immediately but in the long run its the proper move.

I wonder if keeping Rambis is in part a move to motivate melo to leave. Just speculation and it is his choice but I don't think Melo feels like Rambis is the coach to take the team to the next level.

How do you know what he feels?
We all read that Melo wants the knicks to conduct a search, which some writers speculate as being a diss, so is that your "feeling"? or do you have some intimate interaction with him?

I thought this same thing as well. The thing is that even if Phil hires Rambis, in two years Phil will be walking out the door and the triangle and Rambis will be right behind him which would really just be another set back because whoever we do have on this team will just have spent two/three years learning the triangle just for another GM, coach and system to come in and bring a new adjustment for everyone involved with the Knicks.

That's why it makes sense to build a culture where we promote internally. That's what they do in SAS. If you think Two years is enough time, then I get why some are disappointed.
Really, Mills will be team president when phil leaves and a Triangle GM will be in under him. I can't say who that is. It could be Masai Ujiri, could be Isiah, could be someone we don't know.
If the team goes in another direction then it would be a shame, but the important thing is what is the Assets in place to build upon. I was shocked PHil came here given how bare our cupboard was!
He did a tear down. That took balls. A year later we are furious.
We blame others when we can't reconcile our own anger.

Add Philly to the list of teams that will be trading.
Another team stacked with yoot assets/picks make three ways easier.

Whats going on with Milwaukee? Funny, Monroe leaves Detroit makes playoffs and Milwaukee falls out.
They might want to trade Parker. Does Griffith work there? I doubt clippers want Parker if they are "win now", but I'd take him for Melo.

This is a VERY interesting notion that I hadn't considered. But it's exactly the kind of thing PJax would do for leverage. He's a crafty sumbiatch, so who knows. Me likey!

Right, keep a below average coach so you can force your best player to leave. That sumbitch got some real crafty Zen going on to enhance that legacy!

wouldn't it be easier to:

Make him pay for his headbands?
Change his favorite beverage due to cutbacks?
Tell his kid he can't hang in the locker room?
Where is La La? Is she low profile?

I say fine him for every time ChuckBuck posts the insubordination/sitting all alone on the bench pic.
that may get him to force a trade back to Denver!

Thats some astute Sherlock holmes insight you got there. All I got to do is look at the Wins/Loss to tell me this is not a good team.
The question is not in "Blame", but in opportunity.

The headband!!!! The dopey looks on his face!!!! Man, does Melon look fat in the gif or what!!!

The way he shakes his head just shows the forced Trade, the destroyed coaches in his wake, the ruining of JustmyLin, the fake parenting of MeloDad! It's all right there!!! His whole demeanor screams "I such the DOUCHE for not letting this team win at least one game without me!" I know I could single handedly turn this franchise around by not passing the ball more, by not playing any D at all, by not coming back from injuries! I know I should be winning chips somewhere, ANYWHERE else, but NOOOOOO NOOOOO NOOOOO, i will stay here to torture "lot of us" knick fans!

Sometimes man pins himself in the corner with no way out.
The absolute control of once destiny is and absolute curse.
You cannot make anybody responsible and accountable but yourself.
His agents, his wife, Phil, anyone... should come for help to take Malo out of the Hell he himself constructed.
But no one coming... I wonder why?
