I know finestrng has talked about him before but if you really look at size shooting skills age production AND the fact that Crabbe plays for a G heavy team in Portland
hes the best SG prospect that can be had--worth 9-11mm. I almost see this as an Allan Houston type of FA signing. Hes just a better option for us at 23

Love him, but Portland owns a Qualifying Offer on him for $1.17M. I think he's a RFA... but I don't see Portland letting him go. I don't think teams will let assets just walk at this point.

Definitely worth looking at to see if Portland maybe wouldn't match though.

Is he that good though? Seems like a Danny Green type but not as active. Basically an efficient role player.

Nice prospect but to suggest he can be had for 9-11m is silly. A team wouldn't even let a rFA go under the old cap for that much but you expect a team that has money to burn to let a good prospect go for under $12M.

The only way that would be possible is if they value Henderson, Leonard, and Harkless more and they each sign contracts avg $15m each but even then they could go over the salary cap to sign Crabbe to a $9-11m deal.

It's basically going to take a Parsons like deal with new cap money and the knicks would need to do it early to tie up Portland's money or something.

think you are overselling him a bit. Are you saying he will get paid more or worth more?

get paid more. RFAs are usually always overpaid to deter their current team from resigning him. Throw in some silly language and a short deal and hope that the Blazers do not want to Pay him in the $16-20m range while also paying Lillard $20M+ and then paying McCollum the max($25-$27M?) next summer when he ask for it. A teams saving grace with the blazers is having so many young players to pay and it being such a weak UFA class I guess. Plumlee will also need to be paid next year too so that's another plus too.

16mm that's insane 11-12 mm max would be a serious deterrent. Tyler Johnson as well as Miami faces disaster with Whiteside and Wade

You add
Rondo
Crabbe
Johnson
In free agency
And Valentine and Felder in the draft
And you've changed the club with4 guys under 24

Can the Knicks afford to overpay a guy that's currently at the bottom end of a rotation? The dude never started and never played big meaningful minutes night in and out

I dont know how old you are--but Allen Crabbe looks an awful lot like Allan Houston. He had somewhat similar #s to Crabbe at age 23 for Detroit. This guys on the B line up. Why would we want another retread like Affalo --you want a guy who has proven he can play big time but also has a lot of room to grow--thats how you buiod a team. Nearly 40% 3 point shooting and 46% FG no brainer with his size touch and athletic ability? No brainer. Hes a shot maker we dont have.

He is a shooter that plays with 2 strong ball handling, penetrating, playmakers in Lillard and CJ. We need players more of the penetration/playmaking skill set then the off the ball shooting skill set.

That's a very key point. We need 2 backcourt players that are a threat with the ball and without the ball, that can create their own shot but also make the pass. Hopefully with size, athletic ability and some defense.

NOW were talking BRIGGS. Ive loved this kid for a while. he has really developed into a 3&D guy. still hasnt reached his prime yet so he canget alot better

Knicks should be improved: win about 40 games and maybe sneak into the playoffs. Melo, Rose and even Noah will have some nice moments however this team should be about PORZINGUS. the sooner they make him the primary player, the better

You can mix and match guards in unit 1 and 2. If we are smart and aggressive--we can find a bunch of guards with diverse skills. We do need a SG who can shoot ala Klay Thompson--that sets up spacing. Carmelo and the PG would be the guys who should be able to drive it a bit more

I have no problem with Crabbe. I do think we need to upgrade the talent period but I think it's also important to makes sure the backcourt players have the right skills for this style of play. Players with multiple skills are a better fit for this offense. It's better to have all the tools than just being great at one thing. I'd take a player who may not be the greatest spot up shooter but has great overall skills and athletic ability. This style rewards great overall skills over being a guy that can get to a spot, catch and shoot but not much else. Not saying we shouldn't add a great shooter. Just think we should be targeting players that can do more than that. Penetration skills, speed, passing and athletic ability are also important in this system.

Wait a second Crabbe is not as good as Klay or Houston. We're looking at Danny Green at best.

Jeremy Lin?

I think I've seen Lin play twice this year, killing the Knicks both times. And then the last Spurs game.

But then I look at his stats and they seem to tell another story of a guard coming off the bench who can't really shoot and puts up other mediocre numbers. Am I wrong? I would love to love the dude.
