http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2623059-building-the-ultimate-2016-new-york-knicks-free-agent-dream-team

This is a video, but I think Beck is once again right on the money.

Last season, he tried to do this and suggested the Knicks would not be able to get superstars in free agency and should instead focus on Robin Lopez, Arron Afflalo and Thad Young. He nailed two out of three.

This season he is saying Knicks should pursue Brandon Jennings (my #1 realistic target at this point) and Kent Bazemore (maybe realistic, maybe not)

If the Knicks can do that and keep Afflalo and DWill off the bench, that's a pretty strong squad. Stretch Calderon to get $5M in cap room to make it work.

If Wroten works out, all the sudden we are kinda deep at the guard spots again. Deep enough to play small effectively.

PG - Jennings, Grant, Wroten
SG - Bazemore, Afflalo, Galloway
SF - Melo, Lance
PF - KP, DWill
C - Rolo, KOQ

I'm beginning to think Jennings would be the perfect PG for this team... certainly of the available options.

He's 26, has matured a lot, plays under control, has the right attitude for NY.

I hope we can get him.

Not bad! At least it shows there are some possible options out there. Team will keep adding younger talent most likely, which would be a good thing. Should be a very interesting summer even without the draft pick.

Bazemore and Jennings are both 26. Perfect age to sign them.

Yeah I can imagine Phil making those signings. He's been pretty serious about finding good value in the 2nd and 3rd tier FA's.

flexible, short term deals only please. KD is the only guy worth long term, max; maybe Derozan

there's talent in the backcourt FA next Summer, not this.

Steph Curry is never leaving the Warriors. If the Knicks get wind Westbrook wants to come here, they can make room easily. Cap goes up another $20M next summer.

If this summer consists of signing Brandon Jennings and Kent Bazemore we're going to be under .500 again next season. Of course, we're probably going to be under .500 next season no matter what.

yep. ive been saying this for months now. i think the achilles injury humbled him

Knicks should be improved: win about 40 games and maybe sneak into the playoffs. Melo, Rose and even Noah will have some nice moments however this team should be about PORZINGUS. the sooner they make him the primary player, the better

I think two names not to overlook are Dwight Howard and Pau Gasol. Both players have a yearning for being given the ball and featured in the offense and both are held in high regard by Phil. Knicks are not good enough in the paint in regards to points scored. Pau's a good post up player and guy that can score around the basket. Dwight's a very good roller who can score many points in the paint off screen/roll plays with Melo or whomever is handling the ball. Both guys are on teams right now that I just have a feeling they won't re-sign with (Chicago. Houston).

It all comes down to the type of contracts they want, as I doubt we would max either player out, but I think they are guys that help in the Melo/win now window . If it's a 2 or 3 year deal, I'd do it. With us signing Wroten, I feel the Knicks will likely not be going after Conley since his market value may dictate a price we would not want to pay (25 million a year, 4 years).

I'll be happy if we are able to add 2 starting caliber players on a good NBA team. Dwight or Pau and Kent Brazemore would be fine with me. I think Howard wants the maximum or a very high salary, my preference is to see what Pau is willing to sign for and if he's interested in a deal where he and another quality player (like Brazemore) is added, you can keep the core of this year's team and have added 2 major pieces.

Not even unless KP makes a leap. Bazemore and Jennings aren't upgrades over what we have now and what we have now sucks.

I have to laugh at the pessimism. Even this team had a chance to be more than it is this year. Things turned bad after the "Melo Trip" but they didn't start that way. There was genuine upside to this team at 20-20 and looking like they were getting better. So after things fell apart with a rash of injuries, it's easy to write this team off and say they were just a disaster when that's not true. This losing stretch is the kind of thing that can happen to a team that had a small margin for error to begin with.

Now going forward this team is only going to improve again IMO. A little bit from roster improvements and a little bit from internal development. This team lost a lot of games that they could've won and with some improvements this could easily be a playoff team next year.

Considering the 2017 draft and we have our pick that's not a bad thing. I am very much a pro trade Melo guy but I like these moves. Jennings was rumored to want to come here. Bazemore looks like he is a solid guy. Even if they tank next year a decent to good prospect could make that team a lot better short and long term.

im a fan of howard beck..very practical guy who knows the ny media

my question to you is how much would you pay each? how much do you think each would cost? also theres a good chance that affalo and dwill will opt out of their contracts

so lets say that happens...i believe the knicks would have roughly 34 mill to spend...how much would you pay jennings? bazemore? affalo and dwill?

Pau would be worth a 2 year/28 million type of deal. He's an all-star still and would be great in the offense NY runs. Offense isn't going away, so you need to get players that will thrive in it and lift the level of it.

I wouldn't give Howard anything more than a 3 year deal at about 20 million per year. If he really wants to be a NY Knick, he'll take that. There are greater off court marketing opportunities in NY vs Houston. He knows that. He also would know we don't have the maximum to offer him and yet there's a story out there that Dwight wants to come. I think he and Melo are also very tight.

sorry for the pessimism. #knickfanConditioning

if you add jennings, bazemore and coach thibs - then yes im thinking a solid 40wins minimum

Don't forget some possible improvements + more consistency from KP and Grant. That could be huge in and of itself.
