Briggs suggested it weeks ago and I agreed in that thread. Let him get tons of minutes in the system and watch the ball go in a lot. He is currently not an NBA point guard. I hope he can be in the future.

I've got nothing against Grant . . . except that he can't play at NBA level.

I've been as surprised by that as anyone else, because I bought into his family pedigree and the assumption that Jackson saw that as an especially good fit for the Triangle.

There is no way to determine that right now. Hes been watching for 40 games. Let him play 15 mins a game or more the rest of the yr. Learn at the NBA level. Give him an offseason and then see how he is next year.

fishmike 9/27/2024 11:00 PM Ug I hate this. The idea of Towns is great until you see what a pussy he is. Jules is a dog. DD was a flamethrower locked up cheap for 3 more years. First Leon move I hate

The most important thing is that Rambo placed Jerian ahead of Sasha and Jimmer based on getting a spot in the rotation tonight. That speaks louder than any single comment a coach makes to the media. Sometimes coaches just think out loud when asked questions. They don't always act on every comment they make to the media.

Jerian had a good 16 minutes tonight. 5 pts, 3 asts, 1 still, 1 bulk, 3 rebs on 66.7% shooting. Let's hope he can do it again and keep growing.

Also, Jose has been balling since he said he was considering a change to the starting line up. He appears to have autonomy and is coaching the way he thinks is best.

This. No reason to send him to the D-League. The kid has been playing better, just give him 20-25 minutes a game the rest of the season.

He can't carry Trice's Jockstrap. Send him down...get rid of the Jimmer, bring up Trice and lets move on.

Maybe Grant heard about a trip to the D-league and woke up some. Still looks a step behind every one else. When he holds on to the ball now I count "one one thousand, two one thousand...." seeing how long it takes for Jerian to make a decision.

Grant made one great shovel pass that left his hands almost as soon as he caught it. Been months since I saw him make a decision that fast. In the end I dont believe it will be Grants shooting that will make or break him, but his ability to adjust to the speed of the NBA game, which it still looks like he hasn't grown accustomed to yet.

I hope this was just a motivational tactic. I would like to see Grant continue to get minutes with the big team. He's showing improvement. Grant finishing the season strong is one of the main things to watch for at this rate, IMHO.

So you've already given up on our rookie PG?? I think he deserves much more of a chance then what he's gotten so far. The triangle is hard to play in for point guards or harder to learn i should say and when you're trying to learn on a team that isn't playing well then i'm sure that makes it much harder. He also had to deal playing for a rookie coach in D.Fisher which i'm sure also has a lot to do with how slowly he's coming along. If he keeps working hard especially this off season which i think he will then he'll be just fine. We see things from him that shows he can be good in the NBA even though we don't see it much so i'm good with giving him the time needed to learn and we're most likely gonna have a legit point guard for him to sit behind and learn from next year which will also help.

He just needs time and not only time off the court and in practice to get better but time on the court to get comfortable out there. He's played very little and you can't just expect him to start making plays as soon as he gets in the game cause he needs time out there to calm his nerves and once he starts getting that time then things should slow down for him in the games.

He has more point guard skills then you have in evaluating point guard skills.

You will be hard pressed to find anyone who thought that Grant would still be struggling at this point. No one thought Grant would arrive a finished product, at the same time its surprising to see a 4 year player look like a one and done.

Might be as simple as changing to a P&R dominant offense, but who knows if that will ever happen while Grant is a Knick?

I think Rambis even commented that Jimmer was more of a 2, and that he was having issues on the defensive end of the court.

Trice seems to have a stronger defensive base than Jimmer, although he is not as good as a scorer.

I also think Trice might fit in better, and is not going to "force the issue" (aka-chucking) on the offensive end, although I expect that some folks around here want to see a "Jimmsanity" moment during the remaining games we have.

EnySpree: Can we agree to agree not to mention Phil Jackson and triangle for the rest of our lives?

Jerian clearly has a lot of talent. He simply got overwhelmed by the differences of playing in the Triangle, plus teams forced him to prove he could shoot and I think it shook his confidence. Not to mention going up against NBA level competition. Still you can see the great court vision Jerian has and his ability to deliver the ball. He seems to have been working on his jumper cuz to me he looks more more confident taking his jumper. I feel Jerian could get going over the remainder of the season. Rambo changing to more scrimmages seems to have helped Jerian and others to get a better feel for the system and more importantly each other.

Jerian and KP look awesome together. For the life of me I don't know why they haven't had those two in the Pinch Post or PnR at the top more often. It just seems like a natural fit and every time they actually do play together they make something good happen. How the coaches haven't noticed and made that a priority I don't know.

He plays like the basketball is a hot potato. Like he just wants it out of his hands. Oh there is somebody...here you go.
