Or does he need to say it in spanish as well So y'all could put the trade ideas to bed for atleast this season, and more than likely next.

NBA players move their mouths all the time and what comes out is what you hear, but not the final words.
I believe Melo if being coy would say this as there is not agreement for a deal and "Im not going anywhere" means just that.

That does not mean there is not talks, or Miami won't come knocking.

hahahahhaahha good one. i usually dont take melo trade rumors seriously. but according to isola, this one was in writing - but youre right melo vetoed it...smh. whats interesting was the REACTION to this possible trade. most of the folks here and most of my friends couldnt wait to trade melo for picks. instead were "stuck" with melo

PS - does anyone have the FULL transcript of melo saying NO

Knicks should be improved: win about 40 games and maybe sneak into the playoffs. Melo, Rose and even Noah will have some nice moments however this team should be about PORZINGUS. the sooner they make him the primary player, the better

He's just covering himself here to a degree -- what's he supposed to say --"I want outta here!"?

If Phil came to him with an opportunity to go to a winner AND hook up with one of his buddies--Lebron, Paul or Wade--he'd listen. He practically admitted as much yesterday. I'm sure between yesterday and today, someone close to him (PR person?) told him it's probably in his best interest to say he's not going anywhere.

Tough situation for Phil--he's limited here big-time. Not only does it have to be something that helps the Knicks, he also has to placate Melo fully. Hopefully something can get worked out -- I think the writing's on the wall. No sure we can ever win with him before he finally breaks down, then once that happens, we won't be able to move him at all. I like him and appreciate him but it's really in everyone's best interest that he gets moved at some point soon.

Said it in another thread...Anthony's comments don't mean much at this point, IMO.

He has to come across as the determined warrior who has no intention of retreating at this time- he'll come across as weak if he suddenly talks about wanting to be traded.

This is like all the shyte we heard from Bosh and James before the Big 3 plan was finalized.

I remember Bosh talking about being his own man...making his own decisions, and that he was not going to sign somewhere just because James or Wade were going there.

Anyone believe the Bosh BS, looking back now?

It does give some perspective as to why Phil was bit cold when he talked about Melo in his press conference. Maybe he wants to reset things and is trying to find a place that is agreeable to Melo.

"I want to win a championship. At this point in my career, that's the only thing that I really care about," he said. "But I'm not, I mean, there's nothing out there for me right now. ... I'm not even entertaining no trade talk right now."

The Knicks (23-32) have lost 10 of 11 games heading into the All-Star break and appear headed to their third straight nonplayoff season.

Anthony raised eyebrows Friday when he hinted that he might reassess his situation with the Knicks after the season while speaking with reporters in Toronto.

"That doesn't sit well with me -- kind of even to reflect a little bit on that and to think about that is tough," Anthony said when asked about missing the playoffs. "That doesn't sit well with me -- to know that it can be three years if we don't pick it up right now."

Anthony was then asked whether he's thought about spending his future playing for a losing organization.

"Not yet. I'm pretty sure I'll have that conversation with myself and my family and my team," he told reporters in Toronto. "But it's not a conversation for right now."

Sounds to me like it'll be a conversation for later. He isn't dismissing it out of hand. Does "right now" mean the All-Star weekend? Or the rest of the season?

It seems like he's starting to consider it... but not quite ready.

We'll see but damn man that trade made so much sense. There is no reason outside of Cleveland seeming so meh as a city that Melo says no to it.

The good thing is that Melo clearly loves playing with KP.

"[Porzingis] brought a new energy I think that we were looking for as a city, as a team, as an organization, and I believe that he will be here for a very long time," Anthony said. "He's 7-3, can shoot, can dribble, speaks multiple languages, loves music. So I'm a big fan of that. And just the way he plays the game -- I don't really think he understands how good he is, and how much better he's going to get."

Unless he wants to build something in NY.

There's also this to consider: say Phil did manage to put something together that really benefitted the Knicks (say like getting that Brooklyn 1st rounder from BOS among other assets) and then Melo said no -- he'd get destroyed around here. I mean people would outright boo him off the court at home games...If he cares about PR and how he comes across, I hope and pray he gives this some consideration if/when the time comes...He has the final word but you would think he almost has an obligation to approve something that really benefits the Knicks, as long as he's getting something favorable out of it too.

I mean, I'm open to considering a Melo trade. But the only fans bitter and psychotic enough to boo Melo for turning down a trade are usually posting on this board during the games.

I mean I hear that and it sounds great but we loss like what 12 of the last 13 games, Melo's been injured, Phil wisely fired the coach, then hired Rambis, and the knicks got no pick this year........ Its hard for me to take talk of building something in NY when Melo is gone in 2018 serious considering where we are in 2016.

Also I like Melo in NY but that trade made so much damn sense for everybody involved.

Nah, it'd be more than us nuts, man. The media would be writing all about it. He'd be vilified.

LaLa very well could shoot the Cleveland thing down right away. Good point. Very plausible. If I had to guess--I really think it'll wind up being something with the Clippers eventually. Everything seems to fit better with him going there -- we trade him out of the conference, he joins his buddy Paul on a good team (the 2 main things he's looking for), they may wish to move on from Griffin now after he punched out the employee, LaLa couldn't possibly complain about sunny Los Angeles..

Not sure that (Anthony being hated by fans in NY) would be the case, because he would be hurting his chances of ever winning a title if he chose to stay... while putting his family over his basketball success.

Would be hard to be critical of him if he decided to stick it out with the Knicks knowing that he would be making the same amount of money, and maybe a title, playing with the Cavs and James.

I love hearing Melo being excited about KP and what KP's gonna be and how much better he's gonna get and if Melo wants to be around to be a part of it then i have no problem with that. I just hope Melo is doing what he should be doing at all star weekend and recruiting anyone that's about to be a free agent and talking to everyone to see if anyone has any interest in being a Knick so he can report back to Phil. Maybe Melo has already done his work and knows something that we'd all love to know about a certain player that wants to come to New York and that's the reason he wants to stay....I may be just wishing but ya never know.
