In all my years watching Knicks/NBA, I have never seen such a non-playoff team be so much fun

and competitive.
It's like we are in every single game and are fun to watch because of how we compete in every game.
We find ways to lose, or just get outclassed because of the talent discrepancy in the backcourt.

It could be Porzingis being on the team, or Melo that he moves the ball consistently, or Galloway playing with the energy he does, Lance maybe with the energy he brings.

Is it me or is this like one of the most likeable not good teams in NY we've ever had? This isn't really a good team. We're ok. Usually when the Knicks are 10 games under .500 in deep into a season, I want like half the roster traded. With this group, I've actually grown to appreciate and like many of them. They play hard. They try to play like a team. I see some potential in some of the younger players to come back next year even better in their assigned roles.

If we can get 2 starters for the backcourt this summer (realistically probably only 1 starter) in free agency/trade this summer, I think next season we'll see the results of the hard work put in this season. These guys play with a high motor, they try to play together and have the ability to be a dominant front line with Melo, KP, Lopez, Williams, Thomas, Seraphin.

Regardless am I the only one who enjoys this team this year even though we win about 40% of our games? We may only end up winning 30 something (35 maybe) games, but I have to say I enjoy watching this team. It's not been as painful as usually it can be when you lose these many games.

agree 100%

and at the risk of sounding panglossian i think Melo may be better next year too. Hope is despite his advancing age, what we're seeing this year is still due to recovery, and a Summer off and rehab will see something better than this year

I agree completely. It's been a pretty fun season, KP being the biggest reason. But this is starting to look like a team that we can really enjoy and the core of Melo, KP, and Lopez is actually something to build on.

Not exactly a thread I expected to see after dropping 6 straight. Mildly pleasant. Thanks, guys!

wow, 'panglossian'. Had to reach back to Honors English for that one.

tough to win when the opponent's hitting 60% from 3, coupled with our horrendous perimeter D. Hope Rambo can do something magical with that.

KP is an allure and Melo has been an enjoyable watch. Lopez's competitiveness is admirable. It was alot more fun when they were winning but I do agreeable that they are infinitely more watchable this year

Up until the last stretch we were .500 and have a 20 year old god in waiting while we muttle thru with our back court!
Not everyone thinks "Aldrich and Schved" and what could have been!

I'm sorry but there is nothing fun about losing the way we have been recently. To the contrary, it's quite painful.

Forget about the geometric shape...this is why some of us can enjoy ourselves even when losing:

Well sure.

But if that were your BROTHER making that play . . . it would be that much MORE enjoyable, right (?)

In other words: the "family" culture that Phil Jackson is trying to build . . . can make a difference in how all of us relate to the team.

Glad to see there are others who are also enjoying the re-building of this team.

It's been tough to swallow many of the losses where we either should have won, or could have won had a few plays in the last 2 minutes gone differently. However I appreciate the style of play of guys like Porzingis, Lopez, Thomas, Galloway and Melo. There's a way this team plays that is appealing and I think given 1 or 2 quality guards we'll reap the results next season.

Rebuilding teams don't have the majority of their starting lineup as vets, and there is nothing fun about losing.

I do understand what they're saying tho. It's just different this time. You can see that the team isn't really that far off and a good portion of the team is actually good. They've lost a lot of tough games. Just go back to the Thunder loss and tell me this team wasn't giving their all? You are obviously going to be frustrated by the fact that they can't get over the top and win, but this team does fight back and try to win games.

You can easily imagine them winning games with 1 or 2 solid additions. It doesn't seem like they need much. A solid NBA level PG would change a things a LOT. We've been beaten by a laundry list of PG's!!! We have nothing to match up with. That's the frustrating part.

I guess there are lots of ways to do a rebuild and everyone likes to do it differently. Why isn't the Knicks considered some sort of rebuild? They got rid of everyone and then drafted high and started to sign young guys, Dleague guys and some vets.

Let's take Philly. Do it through the draft, collect assets, trade assets to get better ones in the future. Little to no vets. PRO: nice shiney draft picks and draftees, lots of cap space. CONS: Risk that draft kids dont know how to play like a team, can't develop fast enough, lots of cap space but no one to use it on, lots of losses, endless years of rinse and repeat? Twolves used to do this and have smarted a bit on that.

Knicks rebuild: Dump players and go all in on draft, sign players (young and old) to sensible contacts, keep space for big free agent signing. PRO: some wins, draft kids grow faster with vets around them, faster rebuild. CONS: one draft to find high talent, frustration from fans that rebuild is not turned around in 1 year.

Or we could be the Nets...

On exit day interviews, does Phil plan to give Melo a participation trophy?
