...Jeff Teague?

With this recent slide, I believe the Knicks are going to make a move for a ONE before the deadline...and if this is the move they go for (instead of Jennings), then P.Jackson will have to include a draft pick in whatever package he offers.

So the question is...Would you be ok with this?

College players are a crap shoot and I would definitely include one in a trade for a proven NBA player like J.Teague. Would hate to have a repeat situation like the one with K.Lowry.

No. Been there, done that. Let's hope the days of mortgaging our future for a quick fix are behind us with this regime. It has doomed this franchise.

I would only offer a future second round pick
Thank God Fisher is no longer our coach, now let's get Calderon out of here:)

Teague is very very good. If we're talking about not getting a new PG til 2017, Teague is a free agent then. He wouldn't be a bad guy to have running the show the next year and a half by any stretch.

I'd think about giving up a lottery protected 2018 first for him.

Phil has never traded a draft pick away yet, has he? It'd be interesting to see if he would do that.

I wouldn't include a future #1. Swish let me ask you--doesn't a small part of you feel like we'll regret it? We trade every halfway decent asset we have for Teague and find out that together with Melo and KP, it's not enough. Then Teague bolts in FA after next yr. Or say we deal for this guy and find out he's one of these guys who doesn't fit the triangle...Then where are we?

do you expect to be a lottery team in 2 yrs?

That would be brutal enough, because if that the case were looking at another 5 yrs before were even a playoff team

Isiah was thinking the same thing when he was giving away 2 first round picks for Eddy Curry. No, its not a carbon copy of this situation, but you never know what will happen, who will get hurt. The Spurs got Duncan mostly because Robinson got hurt.

The only reason I want to see Phil trade a first round pick is to add an elite player to the roster. Teague is good, but he's not elite.

And there are no elite pgs in the league that will be avail in the next couple yrs..forget elite, we just need a good pg, like kerr or BJ armstrong..

Doesn't have to be a PG. Would rather wait than pass up an opportunity to surround KP with wingmen who are his age, first round picks. There will be some decent PGs in free agency, not elite. Just dont believe Teague is good enough for a 1st round pick when this team has a lot of rebuilding to do. Cheapest way is through the draft.

No more dealing picks. Knicks history is full of that.
If anything, I'd look to deal a player like Afflalo or someone like that for a draft pick by deadline to a team that's in contention or in the playoffs looking to add some firepower for the bench, for a low first round pick.

Grant may not have been what we wanted right away, but he'll be an investment for a few years. We need more young players like that coming in and playing small roles, or going to the D league, learning the system and coming into the A team with some experience in the system.

Just look at what pick ups like Porzingis, Galloway and Thomas have done. Small cheap pick ups tend to help more than hurt.

Phil isn't trading any first round picks. He's said that from day one. I trust nothing will change that.

I do believe Phil is working hard in a trade. Sneaky mother****er

Exactly

On top of that...Melo will be completely done and the discussion will then be finding a sidekick for KP.

Jeff Teague is a proven, ready-made, young, NBA Player. I honestly believe that a future draft pick is NOT a lot of ask for him...especially assuming, and hoping, that a move like this would turn the Knicks into a playoff contender (if so, Now we're talking about a late first round pick).

As far as fitting in the triangle system...we are running into that problem now with J.Grant and half the players on the team.

I don't care what Fisher says....The Knicks are trying to make the playoffs this year. They are TOO close not to try

NO MORE trading first rounders. We did that for 15 years and ended up worse for it

I'd rather get a solid PG at lower cost. I want a Ron Harper clone. Forget guys like Jennings, Teague, even Conley. Pure PG'S are wasted in this system. I say go for lower targets or guys who may not have developed yet who play a swing game, like Mayo, Avery Bradley, even a guy like Barea, or Jimmer even though they are both on the small side would fit. Langston is a perfect fit if he develops (and Alan Hahn said on his show that Langston actually went to Clyde for advice-which is huge in my book. Put those guys next to a 2 guard who can defend and shoot like Danny Green, Alec Burks, Afflalo when he was consistent, just a solid 2 guard option with Melo operating the offense from the 3 like Jordan and Kobe used to from the 2 with Porzingis at the 4 and Lopez at the 5 and they should be a 6-8 seed depending on talent.

MCW cant shoot.

TEague is a good player. Not sure he is big enough for Phil's taste in a triangle type PG.
