I don't know when the Knicks will try to upgrade this? Get Grant into a position where he can led the D league team or IMHO even trade him to a club that might make different use of him where we get back a younger player that is under salary control.

As knicks1248 pointed out in the game thread, Grant was much faster in his decision making. He didn't overthink things, just picked up the pace. It didnt pay real dividends tonight, but this is the way to get out of a slump, think faster and be more aggressive. Grant did both tonight.

Kid is a rookie. Gotta have some patience. See what he will do in the off season. Hopefully, he works out with Lance Thomas

He wasnt holding onto the ball too long, if he couldnt find anyone, Grant put the ball on the floor and either took it to the rim or found a cutter. Its progress. Im guessing all those different lineups, in addition to learning the triangle messed with his confidence. Looks like he's starting to feel more comfortable on the floor.

he slows down breaks, has these tiny strides, does not attack the pick with the ball, right now its pretty much all negatives. He was -18 and it felt worse

Two major problems with Grant. He cant shoot and he cant drive. Those are two Major problems! Hes 24 years old as well--not a young rookie.

I think if we just use common sense--I do NOT think that Erick Greene if given the same 16 -18 minutes is going to consistently shoot 10% from 3 and 35% from the floor. I think he will add NET value to that position for NOTHING. At the same time Jerian should get the 40 minutes he needs in Westchester working on broader game development and confidence.

Thats what happens when you arent producing, I did see Grant being more assertive. Still a ways to go, but it beats standing around, trying to figure out what to do. Ive seen Grant run breaks with KP. and looked great. Looked great running in SL. I know it's SL, but the kid just needs some stability to find his game IMO, and this smaller rotation might do the trick.

Exactly, fisher said he would stop forcing grant into trying to run the triangle, and give him a chance to run more screens with KP, Melo, and lopez. He's a guard that needs to run and needs open space.

Here we have a guy like BRIGGs who is always clamouring for young talent, talking about trading him, or sending him to the d-league.

Jimmer is lighten up the d-league, and didn't get one single 10 day invite from any team in the NBA.

Grant is a very solid point guard who is being used incorrectly, but he will come around, when the coaching staff can finally understand how to use him. They actually know, they just don't want to stray to far away from the triangle. Its really ashame

I watch Grant and I see a player who has lost confidence or who might not yet be skilled enough to warrant a true NBA rotation position. He needs developmental time. He cant shoot and he cant drive--hes not very athletic. Hes got some decent body control for 6-3--using savvy he can use angles and body control to get to the basket against some teams--but he hasnt been finishing? He just not playing well--lets not sugar coat it?

I agree. I did mention in the game thread that he was holding the ball for too long. He takes to long with his entry passes, because he is always thinking about attacking the paint. He will get it at some point.

Thank God Fisher is no longer our coach, now let's get Calderon out of here:)

Right, so Nate Walters, Mike Muscala and Whiteside get years and years and years, but our own rookies have to deliver after a couple of months?

"Unfortunately" for Grant, the Knicks are a competitive bunch at this point...he would have been better off, and doing better, IMO, if we had been a terrible team like last year.

Major confidence issue for him at this point. His hesitation can be painful.

LOTS of guys, including Briggs, were very high on Grant before the draft and when we took him...some even thought he made our draft palatable because they figured KP would not do anything significant until the end of the first Hilary Clinton administration.

I firmly believe in the basketball wisdom of the folks on UK who believed in Grant before the draft and after we took him. I refuse to think they could be wrong.

EnySpree: Can we agree to agree not to mention Phil Jackson and triangle for the rest of our lives?

Nate Wolters was way better than grant with the same opportunity and now he plays in Europe.

Grant was a reasonable prospect but I would've likely drafted justin andersen or potentially portis given an ability to understand we were receiving another pick and having the ability to study the possibility for a few days. Bobby portis really fell off my radar because it made no sense to follow him I picked andersen Powell and atkins(the first and only guy to even mention him on any Knicks website)as my 3 2 nd rd possibilities from top middle late 2 nd rd. I never mention drafting grant once

We can't change the game to satisfy one player. Everyone else is playing well. Grant is having issues adjusting to the nba game not just the triangle. It's to be expected.

Again we can't get into changing stuff to satisfy one guy. Grant is playing like a promising rookie. He'll get it but it probably won't be this season. Knicks have room to tinker. They should look to bring someone in and send Grant for a few dleague assignments.

I believe that Grant has shown he can get to the basket. He plays the pick n roll well too.

I see a player who is thinking too much. He is over dribbling and his shot is not good in a spot up situation. He needs to be off the dribble and creating.

I would be OK with a DLeague stint but he çan and will get better in the NBA too. Just needs more time.

if only we had a guy who was playing well in our D League that we could bring him up and give him a chance and see if he could play better than Grant ?????

.....and in the scope of things, Knicks one game from .500 with 12 of the next 17 at home are playing pretty good.

The other thing is as the knicks schematic get more difficult we have seen some players and team play take a step back, then evolve even further. Grant looks like he is mind phucked but perhaps that is because more is being asked of him. To bring in new players who might be way behind the learning curve is much harder than "hey, it can't hurt to demote Grant and let him Fly free in the dleague then bring him back to the disciplined structure".....Yes it can.

Good call, Whiteside and others get a years to make Briggs look good but Grant hits a major wall and seemingly not hurting the team and we should send him down. He might be on the cusp of breaking thru. That would be a shame.

I am confident the Bling 36 can see what is happening and prescribe what is needed.
