If one were to believe an anonymous former coach, "Jimmer thinks everybody is stupid. He thinks everybody needs to come and just turn over their offense and let him shoot it anytime he wants."

They used the quote directly from "The sporting news" quote from a few weeks back. Until someone owns it, we can't go by it. Jimmer is 26 and has his reputation but either he is in Westchester to sell tickets, or someone in the organization thinks there might be something there Knicks should look at.

I was switching back and forth between the Westchester Knicks and the Knicks the other day. Fredette was guarding someone in the corner who took a step back 3. The strangest thing is Fredette was a good 6 feet away and to the side. Even with his arms outstretched, he was nowhere near the guy, but he jumped in the air anyway and stuck his hand up. I dont believe I have ever seen anyone do that on a basketball court before. Its like Fredette thought he would get extra credit. IDK, feels like this kid is living in his own world.

No, he's living in Bargs World. I guarantee the next move you see the Jimmer make is trying to dunk from the foul line, coming no where near the rim (or even the bottom of the net) and falling on his face...

These knicks do a great job of protecting him (and others) on defense. They give a lot of help and have some shot blockers inside. I don't think the Big Team could do the same. The guy is a baller and always will be, but I don't think he will be at the highest level. I guess we could give him heat checks, but he seems like he needs to be in the game more to be effective. I wish he could play in the NBA because he IS entertaining to watch.

Early is out for a while and we need a guard who can score the ball and a dude who can run the show a little. Defensively, I am sure he is no worse then Calderon
Thank God Fisher is no longer our coach, now let's get Calderon out of here:)

Here is a question about Fredette: that dude was always known as a shot maker, but not as a PG. He is given the PG label because of his size, but back in college, he never really looked to set other Ls up. Has he shown an ability to play the point? Further, can he play an uptempo style????

4.9 assists per game currently . . .

. . . also 1.9 steals, 50% from the field, 48% from 3-point, 89% FT, 4.8 rebounds.

Too bad he's a jerk (if that is what he is) . . .

Those are not bad numbers at all. What do we have to lose? We are to give this dude a try and see if he can be an upgrade

We don't even play an uptempo style! I think Jimmer probably would look to push a little more than Jose, but I wouldn't call him a coast to coast threat. He's more of a younger version of Jose who is much more aggressive offensively. Jimmer wouldn't really drastically change the number of fast breaks but he'd likely make the team more potent taking more advantage of the open shots the offense creates in half court. Pushing the ball more not so much to make the team a speed ball offense but more to just get a few more early looks. I would still like to add a guy like Wroten to the mix. He's got more coast to coast speed and finishing ability at the rim. Both Jimmer and Wroten might be a nice boost to the offense.

If he were 6'5" and not 6'2" . . . I'd be a lot more eager to see if he could fit into the Triangle.

Steve Kerr, paxson, Fisher, all did ok playing in the triangle and none of them is taller then 6'2".

That's fair. But since there are questions about Fredette, I was looking at what the other pluses/minuses might be . . .

Strengths: An absolutely relentless scorer ... Led nation in points per game with 28.9 ... Wide array of ways to put the ball in the basket ... Great size and strength for a point guard ... Strong finisher around the rim ... Uncanny shooting ability ... Volume shooter that maintains efficiency; averaged 3.3 three-pointers made per game in his senior season on 39.6% ... Gets an outstanding amount of elevation on his jump shot ... Won't dazzle with high-flying dunks, but uses the athleticism he has very well ... Tough to stop in transition ... Can pull-up for a quick jump shot from anywhere on the court ... Unlimited range ... Supreme confidence in his shooting ability, won't hesitate to fire from as far as 30 feet away from the basket ... Able to make shots even when appearing well off-balance ... Great free-throw shooter (89.4%) ... Underrated quickness ... Nasty ball-handling ability ... Deadly crossover ... Frequently throws off defenders with well-timed hesitations moves off the dribble ... Can create a lot of space for himself, with or without the ball ... Doesn't have to dominate the ball to be effective ... Crafty mid-range game ... Comes off screens extremely well ... Automatic catch-and-shoot ability ... Talented passer that has the ability to create open shots for his teammates ... Thrives in high-pressure situations ... Very unselfish ... Very high basketball IQ ... Tough, physical player that doesn't shy away from contact ... Gym rat, always focused on improving his game ... Smart, well-spoken kid that always seems to impress in his interviews ...

Weaknesses: A very poor defender at BYU ... His team couldn't afford for him to get in foul trouble which may account for his lackluster defensive effort ... Struggles to close out on shooters ... As the primary offensive option on his team, he hasn't proven he can be a pass-first point guard ... Assist-to-turnover ratio is poor (4.3 assists to 3.5 turnovers), but understandable due to his role on the team ... Prone to getting blocked on his drives to the rim ... Athleticism is certainly below average for an NBA point guard, which may hinder his ability to get his shot off at the next level …
