That dude is a monster on defense. He is blocking shots at a rate that Is unheard off. If this dude can improve as a post player and manage to add a 16 to 18 feet jumper to his repertoire, this kid will be a megastar. I see Alonzo morning written all over him
Thank God Fisher is no longer our coach, now let's get Calderon out of here:)

Everything about his production is amazing EXCEPT that he has a TEN to one turnover assist ratio. He's still playing at a max contract level right now but the rumors about his attitude are worrisome.

He was a massive headcase to the point of delusion when he was coming out of college. I thought he had been humbled playing overseas and such or at least that's what all the fluff pieces said last year when he emerged on the Heat as a defensive juggernaut. Are there still rumors floating around that he has a bad attitude?

I haven't heard any and they would be in Miami's best interests to start them! They really might lose him. A difficult situation regarding the cap with him (I have read).

If he had a jumper and post play he'd be Hakeem.
but he is not.
If Hibbert had a heart......He could be ewing.
If Freddie Weiss had a brain........
If Yinka Dare.........
If Sam Bowie didn't get hurt......
If Barganani could be healthy...........
If JR had a few more brain cells........
If Marbury was not Starbury.............
If Melo could pass faster from Double he has Elgin Baylor written all over him.........

The list can go on for days. You watched a miami game and made a thread.

Miami is going to be in a pickle if Whiteside wants max or close to max dollars. Either Wade will need to take a pay cut and Deng will be let go (which seems ok with Winslow stepping in).

Whiteside will be a UFA with no Bird rights so there is no advantage dollar wise for Miami.

Yeah, that is what I remember reading. We actually have a chance. I don't want to discount what Lopez gives us, but Whiteside would be a monster.
Then again, KP will be playing the 5 I think...

With a history if inconsistency he should be on a performance based contract. Riley is as good as it gets but this should be an interesting situation to follow. Im curious what the market will be for him.
Its higher with fans after a nationally broadcast game and impressionable viewers.

Afterall, the kid is 26.

Not sure it Whiteside fits into the current system we run, but I wouldn't mind having him.

Break it down. You want give him 15-20 million? Lopez is not offensive juggernut but he is a consistent professional and has proven himself in that manner for a few yeas now. Whiteside is very athletic and a if he is not 100% healthy does he possess the fundamentals to still be effective. Ewing was a great example of a young athlete who morphed into a fundamental solid player and when the knees got creaky and his torso filled out he was a different player, but still an allstar.

I might be wrong as I don't know his practice habits nor his personality. I just know he was on national TV last nite and fans drool over whats on TV.

Whiteside kind of reminds me of Ben Wallace. Wallace hadn't made many waves in the league, bounced around for a few seasons until he was traded in part for Grant Hill to the Pistons and became a monster in the paint.

Could you imagine Players trying to go to the hoop with KP6 and Whiteside waiting for them?? Talk about a block party.

What's funny is the Knicks had Ben Wallace on a ten day before he was discovered

Agreed. Its a big risk giving him 18-22 a year (starting). I prob could live with a year 1 of 15M, but I doubt he would take it. Someone is going to offer 20+.

Problem for the Knicks is I can't find players this FA period that I can see them spending money on. Durant and Batum are the only 2 targets I can reasonably see right now.

Lopez I'm down on (for this system). I don't like that much of the offense requires him to handle the ball and make facilitating plays.

Yeah, that is the thing. Right now, you can see how having a great presence inside with KP really affects how our guards can defend on the perimeter. They can be more aggressive as they have someone behind them. If we had two giants, that would really give us a chance against teams with great guards. Really, if you can clog the paint, you can put your focus on the outside. A chance against GS and such.
