Was hoping to find a good forum with updates and trade rumblings. Hope this site is it. But also noticed a lot of dislike for Melo. Thought he came through last night scoring 7 out of last 9 points in spite of having a off game and in foul trouble. I guess ita normal, as most press and fans favor certain players on a team. And even secretely root for others to fail, due to a lost argument or annoying obsessed fan, Although, as a coach, something i never understood. Even saw it on Rockets site with Harden and other players. Curious to see how this dynamic of Melo vs KP, created among Knick fans, will play out. Hopefully most can be excited about having several good pieces on this team once again. As well as several obvious distinctions with this year's squad. Knicks, so far, have a much beter team chemistry. They have players that seem to be happy with their roles. Both very important ingredients for winning. A young player who is highly skilled and physically gifted and still learning. A perennial All Star who seems to be dedicated to defense and all around team play in spite of having a scoring mentality instilled in him since college. Although clearly not fully revovered from knee surgery. Several role players that are getting more confident with each game. Anyway, looking forward to next game and think it is again an exciting team to watch.

not really most are happy with the team INCLUDING melo. However melo is getting older and coming off a injury so it may be better for him and the team if he takes a step back and becomes the number 2 guy

Great first post. Welcome. This is a great site but it can get heavy on the Melo bashing. Be sure to check out SlickSports under other stuff. Martin and Andrew have links and pages set up like the Knicks page for all of the teams and also for other sports.

Welcome.

I have not liked Melo the last few years. I saw him as a very selfish player. This season, so far, he is doing better. This Melo can win and can lead a team. Whether he has changed or the talent has made him change who knows and who cares. He must stay unselfish and willing to do the little things to win. He can score but he can do more too.

I think what you see is a hate for ale fish me first play. Whether it's Melo or Marbury doesn't matter.
I give credit to Melo so far. He is showing signs of not being that way.

Got a few but loyal Melo haters and are dedicated to the cause.
Its ok to have different views. Basically if it gets sophomoric it gets ignored and goes away.

The few that remain are actually good dudes. Its a view, not a lifestyle.

Many just like myself did not like the deal but whaddayagonnado? We do like our rookies and are protective of them.
Jump on the bandwagon, lots of room!!!!

The fact that new members can come in and sense this immediately says alot. And the Melo critique hasn't even been that bad lately due to the winning. Members have made up so many fake narratives and cried Wolfe so many times that Melo bashing has lost its meaning.

Did you see Melo foul that guy on the 3 pt attempt?
Did you see him try to dribble right through 2 defenders and lose the ball?
Did you also see him throw the ball directly to the other team?
Charge into the offensive player causing a needless foul?
Get into early foul trouble?
Not be able to jump or alter shots?
Miss an important free throw near the end of the game for the second consecutive game?
Hardly ever pass the ball?

When his shot is falling he's an asset. When its not he's way worse than Lance Thomas.

Just saying.

Oh. And welcome to the site!

Thanks for the welcomes. Good points in response. I do Feel a GM's, Coaches share some responsibility in taking advantage of a player like Melo and put him in the proper situations. Which I think Phil and Fisher have done a better job. Of course every coach and fan would love an all around all star player like LB or Magic or Isiah etc, but not too many of those exist. There is plenty of room for the Melos, Kobe, BK type scorers on a winning team. You need those type of scorers to take big shots and create double teams. Ie. Allan Houston, Starks, Latrell to mention a few on our winning teams. However it is true you need team ball concepts within your framework in order to be a complete team and have long term success. As well as the need for your main player to expand his skill set to resemble the greats. Which I think he has shown the eagerness to do in the last couple of years. Glad to see KP and others on the team help him this year with the scoring load and increase his ability to play harder defense and rebound. I do think he has involved others early in games in order to gain their help later in the game. One thing not too many are mentioning Is that the defensive effort is what is winning games. And so far, Melo, as the team leader, is leading by example. Which Is one thing I thought I would never see. As well as leading team in assists. Good things so far. Really excited about KP specially his protection of the goal. Something we have not see in quite some time. Chandler was the closest but nowhere near his blocking ability. Hope he continues to focus on that.

He also was double covered when he hit that dagger 3 with Kristap wide open to his left. Somehow he was plus 7 in plus minus.

Anytime anyone points out that some are highly critical you post the same thing. Hofstra is a new poster and pointed out something he noticed here. It seems like you are a bit preoccupied with others perceptions.

cool. This is a great site with great posters but some are giving it a false reputation because of a few knuckleheads. Im happy that not everyone is 150 percent positive all the time...it would be boring and not objective to be honest

This is the 2nd new member that I have heard say these things. I found it interesting that this is how the board has been perceived as of late.

Also commented that the critique hasn't been that bad. So clearly I'm not that offended by what's been said about Melo as of late.

I can't stand disingenuousness irks me every time regardless if its a topic about Melo or anyone or thing else.

Who is number 1? You mean 12 games more or less can tell you something? I've seen many players come and go. I think we need to wait this season out. Ask KP who is number one and he will tell you Melo. End of discussion

KP is 7'3 and his shot will eventually be impossible to guard. It will be logical for him to be #1. But at the moment its better for him to slowly work into that as he isn't conidtioned yet to play 82 games at up to 30mins.
