Is KP already a player that other star players would want to come play with or is the KP/Melo combo two players that another star player would want to become that 3rd part to make a star trio?? You gotta believe that these other star players or not even stars but the really good players that are soon to be free agents are looking at the Knicks as a team on the rise and a team that they'd want to play for. It's not just KP and Melo either cause we now have a legit defensive center in R.Lopez and we have J.Grant, A.Afflalo and L.Galloway who are all three great pieces to have and K.O'Quinn, D.Williams, K.Seraphin and L.Thomas who are all great players coming off the bench, we have a head coach in D.Fisher who seems to be a players coach that players will want to play for, we have Phil Jackson who is still that great name that some players have always wanted to play for even though he's not coaching and we still have New York City and Madison Square Garden. So is this New York Knicks team now a team that other big name players will want to come play for like we used to be in the 90's?? Are our Knicks back to being relevant?? I am very excited about where we're at right now and about our future and i absolutely think other big name players will want to come play with our New York Knicks.

This kid is the next big thing and is the type of player other players would love to play with. K.Durant sure would look good standing with KP and Melo in a Knicks uniform but where would he fit? I don't think he'd fit in with Rolo, KP and Melo cause he needs to play SF/PF and we're already good there.

Yeah i just added to my post that he wouldn't fit with who we have. We'd need to add that 3rd guy at one of the guard positions. Afflalo is only signed for two years but i think there's an option after this year but not sure so we'd need to figure out if Grant is our future starting PG or if he's a good piece coming off the bench. I think a SG that can shoot the 3 ball lights out would be nice.

Just for fun,can anyone name a marque player who changed teams seemingly to play with another players or players based on promise rather than track record?

Aldridge went to the NBA's assisted living team.

Howard … maybe?

+1 - I've stated this before, but he is starting to having lagging injury issues. It is a real concern. Also, the way the league is now, we need a significant upgrade at PG, especially one that can play something that resembles def. If they even had a PG that could defend right now this team would be really good.

Heh, but what were his options? Doesn't court if his only other choice was the 17 wins Knicks.

Durant doesnt really fit and the foot and body breakdowns terrify me.

Agree with the thoughts we really need a star guard. Conley is a FA, but not sure I want to give him the max at 29-34 years old.

We have some shooters, a pair of dynamic forwards and some nice blue collar bigs. What we need now is a 25 year old Steve Nash. Funny, I know Rubio was mentioned during the offseason, dude is having a breakout year and is one of the best guards in the league right now

I don't see KD, KP, and melo as a good trio at all. The team needs another star, but because i really don't know what we have with Dwill, quin, early, it's kind of hard to evaluate what you need

Shaq with Kobe? To play with none other than our own Phil Jackson.

No doubt KP is a draw for free agents as they get to play with a potential franchise player. I say potential because he is a work in progress.

Three is the magic number to build around. We don't know what Durant wants or doesn't want.

In our wildest dreams if we thought any shot of .500 last spring would have included Okafor and a starphuch signing. Not some Blond 7-3 teen Euro and some blue color worker bee's.

Duant is a starphuch and would be a nice addition but im not gonna sweat his arrival!

Durant is like signing Amare he's very fragile at this point in his career.a lot of miles on those weels...

I think Phil looks at the big picture of title contention and goes hard after Steph curry in 2017

GS is building a downtown San Francisco arena and there are few better NBA destinations right now.

And he'd get the most money there.

Why the hell would he leave?

KP will have a strong magnetism for FAs because it looks like he can find a way to fit in with most player types.

He does not need the ball to be good, moves very well without it, and readily uses his body to set picks for other players. He will eventually have a very efficient inside/outside game which will allow him to complement many different types of players. He can play D and cover up mistakes make by teammates.

Add this stuff to his intelligence and attitude and I can't see why guys would not want to play here over other teams if the price was right.

EnySpree: Can we agree to agree not to mention Phil Jackson and triangle for the rest of our lives?

You start KP at the 5 or Durant at the 2. Fit won't really matter when you have versatile players like this, they will fit just fine together. I would happily take Durant but Beal (who is unlikely because he is restricted), Conley, and Batum seem like the best options. Having Conley would be absolutely awesome.

I love connelly.

Mixed on beal. First, he is not an option and he won't be available. 2nd, not much of a ball mover. He is much more efficient this year compared to the last few years but not sure if he will sustain it. Also does not shoot that many FT's. We need guys who can get to the line. I hate Derozen but the dude can get to the line!

Do you love him at $20mm? At $10mm his value is one of the best in the NBA. At $20mm per from ages to 29-34 not as much, and I am a fan of him bigtime.

We could really benefit from an alpha guard. Its also possible that Grant explodes here. I get we havent seen it but I do think many of the tools are there to be a Conley caliber player (different style, same level of impact).
