These fools are going to destroy that young man with all that fanfare.
Thank God Fisher is no longer our coach, now let's get Calderon out of here:)

its obvious why everyone is flocking to him. He brings an old school view of the game with new school potential. He is so eloquent and humble. He has a great smile and is so damn smart.

I hope they don't kill him. If I was him, I would limit the amount that I expose myself to the media.

so here is what phil is thinking ....

Somebody buy one for the selfie kid who was crying on draft night. Probably getting an earful from his classmates.

IMO KP has a GREAT support system. His family is perfect for this and they have raised him for this very moment all his life. His brothers and parents are there for him and since he's still so young they have control of his exposure to a great degree for now. Phil talked about how important a players family structure was to him and KP has a very good family and a good head on his shoulders. He was also already a Pro Athlete for years and has a lot more experience than you'd think a kid his age would have.

I buy nothing for that kid. If anything, him and his cornball dad should give me their tickets to the next draft.

I put that level of self absorption squarely on his father. I feel sorry for the kid because he doesn't know any better.

Meanwhile out in Minnesota, K.A.Towns is fully justyfing his #1 selection and then some. Yet Barkely called KP the early ROY frontrunner on Mike & Mike this morning, and Kristaps is all OVER the internets. Don't get me wrong, I'm eating it up, but still. Therein lies the difference between doing it in Minny as opposed to getting it done in the Media Capitol of the World

your point as well as KP being a 7 foot 3 latvian who speaks perfect english and who is really funny and witty.

KP is unique, Towns is excellent but not unique (like KP).

so here is what phil is thinking ....

I really don't see towns getting better then he is now... He's really good and prob will get in a few all star games... Kp is going to be a super star in the way dirk and kg were he's going to change the whole culture of this team teams are going to have to just there game plan solely to stop KP... KP is right up there with the talent of Anthony davis their rising super stars. Hopefully KP is more sturdy then davis

Hahn talking about trying to get the dad and the kid on his show.

Would be fun.

DiPietro feels they already got their 15 minutes of fame...does not want to give them any more attention.

Probably true.

At this moment, if I'm objective, I would give it to Towns.

We still don't know how things will look by the end of the year, though, and Porzingis has been slower to get into his stride this year than Towns.

Also have to add that I love KP...his story and his personality, but Towns is a character who also would have captured the NY media.

I've seen a number of T-Wolves games, and he's been pretty special so far, and like KP, he's a great kid who seems to get it. Had a great dad, too, who really helped him develop.

My philosophy is to enjoy KP up close, and admire Towns from afar.

Happy with what we got though, and might not trade him for any other rookie at this point.

Also don't feel that the attention he's getting will hurt him. He has enough grounding- family, Fisher, and Phil, to keep him real. I think Anthony, Sasha, and even Lopez, will keep him on an even keel.
