Hate to say it, but I sort of see why FW would post this. The Knicks have a sordid history of trading away players for overpaid vets.

But I think we have seen enough in his first 12 games to know he's a franchise cornerstone, so he will not likely EVER join that list.

Now go away, FW, you smelly troll ;)

WTF??? Why would anyone post such a ridiculous question? Why in the world would this even come into someones mind given how things are developing? After all the years of struggle and futility, we finally have some sunshine and a future. We have a lot of young talent at the same time we have Melo and other solid vets. This is what you hope for. We are looking forward to the rest of the season and the next few seasons as this team develops. This is great!!! Everyone should be happy like Nixluva at this point in time.

So I made up that list of ex-Knicks who perform extremely well on other teams? Bonehead GM moves?

Did you expect a genuine answer to the question you asked (when)?

KP was our #4 overall pick. There's really no correlation between the other players and him. Drafted that high, he's being looked at as a future franchise player. The closest guy to him that we drafted was Gallinari, but even he wasn't looked at in this same light. Very rare for this franchise to have a top 5 pick and a Big who has this kind of talent. This is more of a Ewing type of draft pick and if he develops into the player we think he will, then he's not going anywhere. I'm hoping KP has a Hall of Fame type career and a few Title runs.

Yes. We have a pretty good history of letting the good ones get away, so the question "when" will this happen with Porzingis stands. I say he doesn't make it to the All Star Break. We'll be doing a straight up trade with Dallas to bring back Felton.

Nene -- drafted 7th
Gallo - drafted 6th
Ewing - drafted 1

Hey, those Hornets took one of two against the mighty Knicks who by all accounts have the greatest 20 year old that ever played basketball.

Totally ludicrous, but just for ****s and giggles:

FireWoodson, explain what you think the reasoning would be behind trading away Porzingis? Amongst the Knick decision-makers I mean. Would it just be "Well, we're the Knicks and this is what we do!"? Just to keep up a pattern? That seems to be your implication.

If not that, can you describe what the thinking would be behind trading away a 7'3", athletic, multi-tool, heady, dedicated, potentially dominant two-way player with uncanny feel and love for the game? Do all Knicks execs just suddenly become idiots? Is there something in the cheese fries at MSG? Truly, beyond "Well it always happens" can you articulate how a GM might arrive at the decision to move him?

FW just having a bit of fun.

If he was serious he would have asked:

What kind of trade might the Knicks accept for Porzingis at this point if you could pick the team for the exchange?

EnySpree: Can we agree to agree not to mention Phil Jackson and triangle for the rest of our lives?

A few reasons why I know Porzingis will be on that list by All-Star break:

- we still need a top level point guard
- the kid is clearly injury prone
- the kid is a personal foul machine. Two minutes into every game he has four fouls already.
- our history of letting good ones get away
- we have Aflalo as our second scorer. We don't need a 7'3" guy putting up 29 a night.
- Melo doesn't like him. We all know Melo needs to be alpha dog. Those "Por-zin-gis" chants last night sealed the kid's fate. He's gone.

Thanks for this. Reading your posts in the past I would think, FW is either a genius, hilarious poster riling up the faithful or the dumbest of mouth-breathing steakheads. I now know it's the former. Guess I had to fall for it once. Keep em coming!

Hey, folks, even Babe Ruth and Wayne Gretzky were traded.

Kristaps Porzingis can not be traded??? That's a bit crazy to think that way.
He scored 29 last night. So what. Toney Douglas put up 30 for us one night. Is he still here?

So, whose on your trade list, and what are we getting in return? I know you've thought this out to it's conclusion

"We are playing a game. We are playing at not playing a game..."

Non starter.

How does comparing Douglas to Porzingis over one game make sense?

Sure, he could be traded. So can any player in the league.

This idea that we are going to trade him 15 games into a season where he is our most important player other than Melo and is leading the team (something you cannot say about Douglas, ever, nor any of the other ex-Knicks you listed first, honestly) seems a bit odd, or like a jilted lover.

Z-Bo was traded because he was a cancer who was trash here, and flourished (good for him) in Memphis. How is that in ANYWAY the same thing??

How about Rod Strickland? You left him and whatever bazillion other Knicks that have been traded. This is not the same leadership nor mentality that dictated moves back in the day.

David Lee had major weaknesses despite that trade to GS being awful.

Forum Po Po and #33 for a reason...
