Say what you want about his offense and how it can/needs to improve in certain areas, but his DEFENSE has been a huge improvement this year. He is hustling his azz off and fighting through screens really well. Very happy with his effort this year.

A big thing about today - he was defending at the 4. He is actually a better defender at the 4. He can use his strength, rather this his quickness at the 4.

To me Melo is much at the 4 on Offense and Defense. We saw a lot of that today.

Pleasant surprise to me. His passing has also been good. Over all,he has been leading as a true leader. This Carmelo might end up leading this team to a deep playoff run. He just needs to regain his forth quarter magic; this is where all great players earn their money

Thank God Fisher is no longer our coach, now let's get Calderon out of here:)

deep playoff run? I think that is the issue with your thinking and expectations. If they were more rationale, you would not be blasting us with so many fisher rants.

Fisher needs to start earning his money. He needs to design plays to spread the floor a little more. What I have seen the last few games need to change. We were better today, because the post player (Seraphin) was making shots. However, defensively we were horrendous. We once again allowed a back door play like what took place in Charlotte; further, we've given way too much space to the shooters.

Offensively, Carmelo needs to go to the line a little more. He is settling for too many jumpers and not forcing the defense to have to foul him. I know he is still working to regain his confidence after a long layoff, so I will give him the benefit of the doubt there

Thank God Fisher is no longer our coach, now let's get Calderon out of here:)

This team has the talents to get there. What I worry about is the headcoach.

Defensively horrendous? The Pels scored 87 points.

I am happy with his defense and hopeful about his offense. I see some signs of improvement and often he regressing but I see at least that he has started to consider changing his mindset.

Defensively, he is giving max effort.

I think Melo is slowly adjusting to this level of fitness to be able to defend and also have enough left to score late in the game. The more he does it his body will acclimate to the increased output level. It's like building up to be able to run a marathon when all you've done is sprint. Melo has only really had to play half the game but now he's been putting out the total effort and it's gonna be an adjustment. He's getting there.

THIS THREAD IS NOT ABOUT FISHER ... DO YOU GET THAT?

how many coaches has Melo played for? He's playing his best defense of his career at age 30+ for Fisher. Sounds like good coaching to me.

I feel like Melo is simply shooting less early. Seems like his mentality is simply wait until things open than go to work. He's moving the ball very well. He's got more energy in a reduced role and its translating to defense. He's always been a good last possession type defender because the guy can play, but your seeing more of the rest of the game and that's a must.

Melo is trying and he's putting effort into answering the knocks on his game which are passing and defense. Good thread. Give guys credit for improving their games. Give coaches credit for facilitating. GOOD JOB MELO. GOOD JOB FISHER.
