This is an exert from the 5-on-5 opinions regarding the mess in Sacramento. Nothing too interesting, but this really stood out to me as comical:

5. What is your favorite Cousins trade?

Haberstroh: The Celtics' first-rounders make the most sense for the long haul, but I'll give you another one. Who's another possibly disgruntled star who may be looking for a fresh start? Carmelo Anthony. Oh, and he knows George Karl's system. Anthony and a 2018 first-rounder for Cousins and Rajon Rondo. Boogie in the Big Apple.

----------------------------

Because
1. Anthony is so disgruntled right now.
2. Knicks can just trade him whenever he wants, what is a No-trade clause anyways?
3. I'm sure Melo would love to move to Sacramento. Go to Sacramento with no Cousins or Rondo, i'm sure he would love that. He would fit in perfectly next to Rudy Gay.
4. Melo and George Karl are best friends.
5. What a great trade for Sacramento.

How many other reasons can you think of for this trade? I hope he was somewhat joking, but even though he probably was, putting this on paper knowing it will be published for all of the internet to see makes me believe literally anyone can be an "expert." So yeah, other than this fantasy trade not making sense in every way imaginable, it makes perfect sense.

That being said, i would do it in a heartbeat.

Id do

Carmelo and Early to Boston

for

David Lee Avery Bradley and both Brooklyn unprotected picks 2016 + 2018 and one additional pick in 2016(3#1s)

If you can get that much, absolutely, but not realistic for many of the same reasons i listed above.

I think i would take BK's pick and not much else. Having a top 5 selection to pair with Grant and KP and massive cap space to make a run at two potential stars would be huge.

This rumor was floating around over the summer. It didn't make much sense then and it makes less now.

Melo and Karl have bad blood at this point. No way Melo would waive his no trade to play for him. And not in a market like Sacramento and that trade would leave Melo and Rudy Gay as the two best players on the team - playing the same position. Only ESPN could be that dumb.

I would consider moving Melo if he's unhappy and to jump start a rebuild here, but I think it'd have to be a team like the Clippers, Bulls, or Wizards. He'd want to go to a major market and a contender.

Wizards - he's from Baltimore and could be a local hero, especially if Wiz strike out on Durant.

Bulls - he makes a certain amount of sense with that roster and they wanted him before.

Clippers - pals with Chris Paul, lives in LA offseason, would make them a big contender in the West.

I could see maybe Houston and or Dallas wanting to be involved.

But Melo has a no trade clause and they'd have to work with him.

That said, he seems to want to make it work here and he still adds a lot of value to this team and takes pressure off KP to develop too quickly. I think having Melo here and keeping the team competitive for now actually helps KP's development.

I thought it was from last summer. Glad I saw your post. That was back when Melo was allegedly disgruntled because he went on vacation instead of attending the summer league to welcome the new WKnicks to the d league.

Boston would be crazy to trade both of those, they are probably locks to be top 5 picks

I thought it was BRIGGS' job to initiate stupid trade the no-trade clause Me7o threads?

Here's one: 5 team deal, Melo to Charlotte for Lin, Denver gives us Gallo and the Mayor back + 1st round pick, Cleveland sends us Moz and Philly's next first rounder, Philly gets Early, Cleveland gets Sasha, Denver gets Jose and cash. Dolan agrees to pay Melo's contract for the next two seasons.

It would be like...heaven.

What would everyones reaction be if we traded Porzingis and salary for Cousins? Cousins is likely better than Porzingis will be, but it would still feel like a kick in the nuts! Then again after the Channing Frye fall from grace, I try to temper my enthusiasm for our rookies

I'd love to get Boogie here in NY, if anything just to watch Mike Lupica replicate the classic scene from Scanners. But I don't really want any part of Rondo. Ever. But yeah, the guy who came up with this idea, I really hope he was joking. It's terrifying to think of someone that dumb making the kind of money this guy probably makes.

One has to hope that could never happen!

In the guise of "Building a culture of winning" id say this cannot be a thought PHil would be having.

Its premature as well to bring in bad attitude guys until there is enough leadership to pull goodness from these type of players.

Rodman to Bulls worked because the leadership was in place and was secure in its place to excuse Rodman from time to time. Yes, Rodman did some stuff in Chicago but (learned form phils book) the bulls let some things go and eventually Rodman adhered more to the team.

Artest in Lakers worked because Ron had matured and respected the team. Im going to think that Cousins and the knicks are not in a place for this yet.

As for Rondo, I long agreed this kid fell in the draft for good reasons but his placement on the Celtics was perfect as he had to adhere to the leadership on place. Once gone one would have thought he'd be that kind of presence but instead became a problem. The man is just not right in the head. He has personality disorder of some degree and goes about his agenda being a dick but without malice.

Boogie should be a Laker.

I would not do that. I like Boogie, and I would very much like to have him on the Knicks, but I would not want to trade KP for him. If anything I would try to make a trade to get him to play with KP, not replace him. But until I see clear evidence that the RoLo and KP combo is going to decline in any way, I don't want to change anything about our frontcourt, at least not yet.

Hey- it's not something I want, but I think it's an interesting question, and likely one that will eventually come up before the trade deadline.
