i thought to myself during the break that with 3 minutes left in the third that win or lose, that THIS is the knick team i want to watch and root for. if i'm fisher it is galloway starting for calderon. enough is enough! that said, dumb plays by the end of the game, with melo's behind the back pass/turnover being the catalyst. why does he even try to make that pass for fukk sake? that's just so egregious and he had been playing so well the first three quarters. the main takeaway is: NO MORE CALDERON AND WHEN AFFLALO RETURNS NO MORE VUJACIC.
kp what can be said about this kid?? the knicks are blessed and, following up on last game, he is not only the ballast of this team, but he is emerging as the most important player period, or at the very least as important as melo. he bothers EVERYONE on defense. if that was all he did it would be worth the #4 pick. but 9 offensive rebounds?!? too bad he ran out of gas. 24 minutes is all he can do at this point. if fisher didn't insist on starting both calderon AND vujacic then this would not be an issue and we could see him out there for 28 effective non-winded minutes. the closeout on henson was with his legs in mud and his court vision not there from lack of oxygen.
melo he played *great* for three quarters and then fell off a cliff. 6 assists yes.... 5 assists no, but i did not pay as much attention to the turnovers because we saw some GREAT passing from him. i counted 5 bad shots too, which is not what you want. but this is the thing at this point: any decent defender with length is going to give carmelo problems this season. this isn't about "lift on his shot" this is about youth being served. leonard, the greek, who else?
williams his most useful function will be as placeholder for melo, who needs to play no more than 30-32 minutes a game.
galloway he MUST be the knicks starting point guard. come on fisher.
o'quinn and thomas solid contributors who are finding a way to produce in limited minutes. good young bench players.
grant looked good in spurts but he needs to understand his limitations and adapt. offseason he needs to shoot 500 jumpers every day and work on a stop and pop, some ball and head fakes. this is the nba with taller, quicker, longer players.
knicks win 38-43 games in 16-17. rose MUST shoot no more than 14 shots per game, defer to kp6 + melo, and have a usage rate of less than 25%
