please stop. lol. i know that this is the boring time of the yr. but please dont feed into this. i listened to the podcast...they didnt name any sources or facts. lol. and then after wards they said the deal was unlikely anyways

melo isnt going anywhere in the near future. lol

Knicks should be improved: win about 40 games and maybe sneak into the playoffs. Melo, Rose and even Noah will have some nice moments however this team should be about PORZINGUS. the sooner they make him the primary player, the better

This rumor clearly has swept the internet and created lots of threads. Either UK members are smarter now, or this is a true rumor. RealGM has numerous responses and 11 pages on this 1 topic, compared to our 3 response on 1 page.

It's from Peachtree hoops so it must be real.

Millsap, Welcome to New York son!

It is quite amusing to read the posts of Hawks fans who are dreaming now for Melo to go to Atlanta...
It is so good that other teams fans sow much less of Melo comparing to Nags and us.
Hopefully the executives and coaches are as delusional as the fans...
I doubt it but at the end of the day fans are paying for the tickets and merchandise.
This may be an empty rumor but something is going on behind the smiles and politically correct MSG talk.

I stopped the podcast when it was discussed if Melo could play team ball like "warriors, SAS and ATL"......Then I thought, if he can do that, he can stay in NYC and do it for knicks!!!!
So why would knicks do that?
Millsaps plus picks? other players? Maybe. But that was not presented.

Carmello would never agree to play for Atlanta in the first place.

What exactly do we get out of this trade? We get a lesser caliber player, we don't get any younger really and we don't really save all that much in cap space (a couple of million a year and only 1 full year in length of contract). All things being equal, I'd rather stick with Melo--he's better than Millsap. Not interested in this swap UNLESS we can get ATL to kick in additional assets -- i.e. their 2016 1st, their 2016 2nd (the higher of the two), maybe Dennis Schroder, Mike Muscala, etc.. Hopefully if Melo comes back strong and proves he's healthy, we could get even more than that...Probably nothing to this at all but just in case there has been some discussion -- please Phil, bring back more than just Paul Millsap! Maybe get a 3rd team involved. There needs to be something in it for us--a reason to make this trade.

I dunno. The Hawks won 60 games last year. I don't love their team but they are more advanced than we are right now, better put together to win. Melo in for Millsap makes them better, Melo could reunite with THJ who he apparently had a good relationship with, they added Tiago Splitter...If by the deadline we're still going nowhere, the Hawks are winning and Melo becomes impatient, I could see him lifting his no-trade to go there.

ATL looking for a star like Melo.
NY looking for a team like ATL.

The only way I would do this trade is if ATL gives up the farm like we did with Denver. Otherwise theres no point. Melo is all in and willing to be a team player. This is something Melo has to force like he did in Denver. I dont see it happening this early. Mid season is a different story. Right now we have the POTENTIAL of ATL as far as a team full of solid role players.....plus the star player in Melo that ATL is looking for. So BEST CASE we can compete with ATL right now. IF thats true theres no need to trade with them.

This is not Knicks choice, its Melo choice.
If he will want to be traded to Atlanta the deal may go..
Actually Knicks will have no choice because no team can afford 100 mil player to stay if he want to go.
Phil-no-Phil Knicks are still in Melo pocket.

Yep, can't imagine he would agree to a trade to ATL. Still think that the only realistic trade destinations for Melo are: GSW (maybe), LAC, LAL, Dallas (maybe), Houston (maybe), Washington, Chicago, Miami (maybe), and Cleveland (huge maybe). And several of those teams aren't in a position to trade for Melo.

wow that would be a great deal for all parties. hawks get that last piece and the knicks get a better triangle player and defender at a cheaper price. what's not to like? even better would be getting a first rounder from them. too bad the hawks don't have a first round pick next summer.
knicks win 38-43 games in 16-17. rose MUST shoot no more than 14 shots per game, defer to kp6 + melo, and have a usage rate of less than 25%

I think we'd make out even more than the Hawks in this trade for sure. Millsap is a true team player and plays hard 2 way ball.

Would love Paul Millsap in a Knicks uni. Seems to get better with age. Perfect triangle fit, low maintenance player.

Why would the Hawks do this? So they can go from 60 wins to -30 in a year?
