![]() Willis was at his peak and Kareen was a NBA neophyte at the time. Kareem was also being double and triple teamed. Yet Briggs point well made. Yet remember at that time, 7' foot PFs were not heard of. There have been an onslaught of oversized PFs since.

![]() The NBA was different back then. Steroids in food and people were different. Finest big men was plenty....Now we have Shaq...Dwight....Lebron type power players. You dont throw a skinny rookie big with a finest game to the nba wolves of todays post. You let his game and body fully develop first then decide where his best position will be. Right now its not in the paint full time. Its all about mismatches.....inside against smalls.....outside speed against bigs. KP is a special player.....from another country where they develop players based on skill.....not position. This is an example of fans and nyc culture not showing patience. If you force a square into a circle....he will never reach his expectations in ny. If thats the case I rather trade him for a center just to save his career. NY is toxic for Euro players. And most of the time the source is fans.

![]() The kid needs to find his own game. No bulking up or learning to be something outside of his current skill set.
The dude could be Tom chambers with better defensive. Just a guy that took everything the defense gave him nothing special but very effective. I wanna say KG but KG has a ferocious trait that KP doesn't have. 20/6/3 with 2 blocks would be an awesome ceiling. Subscribe to my Podcast https://youtube.com/c/DiehardknicksPodcast

![]() KP seems to have the overall talent to be as good as he wants to be. He can certainly shoot the ball like any top big has every shot. He needs to refine his post moves and of course get stronger, but you can't force his post game. He'll post enough to give teams different looks but he has to pick his spots early on. He's not going to be able to post everyone. KP just needs to be KP. As blkexec said "inside against smalls...outside speed against bigs." No need to force things.

![]() There was no 3 point shot back then. So of course you tried to work it in and there would be no reason for Kareem to do otherwise. Lets say the kid hits around 40% from 3 - why would you not let him take the it based on his efficiency? Or is the inside/outside game only reserved for your boy Kaminsky?

KP came in with the rep as a well rounded player but mostly a perimeter big. He's said all along that he wants to develop his strength and low post game and he played C in SL. Clearly he's gonna be developed as a complete player. When has Phil ever not wanted well rounded Bigs? Phil's most recent bigs were Bynum and Gasol. |

Ability to cover 3-5 depending on the matchup. Excellent help defense. Abilitity to stretch the floor or post up. https://vote.nba.com/en Vote for your Knicks.

No bulking up or learning to be something outside of his current skill set. i like both these comparisons. however, some have questions about kp's hands, both garnett and chambers have/had great hands. as to whether kp has some fighting spirit in him, i think he does. maybe not ferocity like garnett or bird or jordan or cowens or payton... but i think he's trying to fit in right now, and it may be tempering his spirit a little. big thing for me is for him to maintain agility to range defensively, and bulking up would hurt that. he can stand to gain no more than 20 pounds lean muscle mass. another big thing for me is for him to develop the kg stuff as mentioned in my sig. also garnett's footwork remains unappreciated, but it is clear he worked on it and he eventually had some good footwork. no time like the present to develop that footwork... and lets not forget pocket passing. can't have good footwork without developing pocket passing, right? he works on this stuff then we will have a hell of a ballplayer in a knick uniform. knicks win 38-43 games in 16-17. rose MUST shoot no more than 14 shots per game, defer to kp6 + melo, and have a usage rate of less than 25%

![]() I like his mental approach to the game. He has confidence BUT is a pretty honest kid good or bad which i appreciate. He can score from anywhere so i dont want him to focus on one specific area. He does need more strength for sure but he also needs to retain his quickness which is valuable to a kid his size

![]() This is different than having Larry Brown Zeke or
![]() That's why it's still great to have Melo here even though everyone is panicking about his age- having a strong scoring star next to him will allow it all to come along within the team flow. By the time Melo is not the top dog the offense will be built in to serve both of them, and the role players on the team will be used to it. If you are still following the team and reading sites like this, there is nothing, short of your own demise, that is going to throw you off this train.

This is a 7-3 man with a 7-6 wingspan. His extension to the basket is as high as anyone in the league but he also has touch. that's why when I think of players that make sense guys like Kevin Michael jab bar Ewing come to mind. I know he is pretty athletic I know he has perimeter skills but his path to career greatness will be based on how much skill he can learn in the low post. Footwork using glass using a soft hook pivoting to the basket etc what a waste to play this guy more than 14 feet from the basket. He can easily be checked outside but if he really learns how to play inside he will be difficult to guard over time AND I believe there is much lower probability of injury. We want high long term expectations and correct development. Having him sit out there like Steve Novak god what a waste that would be RIP Crushalot😞

![]() Jabbar was groomed from day one as a center. KP in Europe they don't just put you down low.
This skinny kid I hope is given time to find his game as his body develops. Fun watching Willis and the Kicks win! Don't feel too bad for "Lou", I think this is 1971 when they beat the Bulletts with Earl in the finals. This was Barnetts last year with knicks. |
