Makes you appreciate Jackson stressing character and background when acquiring players...although people change with wealth and fame, and its hard to account for that.

I'm going to die if I hear about KP or Grant doing this kind of thing after they get their first paycheck. I'm dreading a Tweet from Rihanna talking about KP being out partying until the early morning hours on game day.

Just amazes me that guys can't do something to get a thrill that does not put others at risk or has the potential to impact their team.

Indiana Pacers player Jordan Hill was arrested in Atlanta this week after cops say he was burning rubber at 107 miles per hour ... without a shirt.

Several people called 911 to report the vehicle on Tuesday -- and cops eventually caught up to the former Lakers player, who was driving a Range Rover.

Dash cam footage shows cops putting a shirtless Hill in cuffs and placing him in the back of a cop car.
He was booked for speeding and reckless driving.

Pacers president Larry Bird issued a statement saying, "We have been informed Jordan was arrested for allegedly reckless driving in Atlanta, Georgia.'

"It is obvious we don't condone this. We will address this with Jordan. This is a major concern of safety, not just for Jordan, but for others."

I'm guilty of moving over 100 mph in my lifetime-- I guess not having a shirt on and speeding is the kicker.

Did I say Hill was a person of "bad character?"

One aspect of "character:"

Responsibility
Do what you are supposed to do • Plan ahead • Persevere: keep on trying! • Always do your best • Use self-control • Be self-disciplined • Think before you act — consider the consequences • Be accountable for your words, actions, and attitudes • Set a good example for others

^This was from a site for kids...but it seems strangely appropriate even though we are talking about a 28 year old adult.

From Lincoln:

Abraham Lincoln said, “Reputation is the shadow. Character is the tree.” Our character is much more than just what we try to display for others to see, it is who we are even when no one is watching. Good character is doing the right thing because it is right to do what is right.

^Not a great quote, but seems appropriate.

Along the same line:

Men best show their character in trifles, where they are not on their guard. It is in the simplest habits, that we often see the boundless egotism which pays no regard to the feelings of others and denies nothing to itself.
Arthur Schopenhauer

No comment about your "poor character," by the way.

Be more concerned with your character than your reputation, because your character is what you really are, while your reputation is merely what others think you are.

I don't think I have, but then I'm a choir boy.

Perhaps this is news because a few people thought it newsworthy that he was driving dangerously enough to dial 911, at which time the Atlanta police decided to make things more newsworthy by arresting him.

Did not seem as if Larry Bird dismissed it as unimportant, so it would seem that he thought the incident to be newsworthy.

Seem to recall a very good player on the Cavs playing car tag and crashing to his death many years ago, I know for certain that was newsworthy.

Also seem to recall that Atlanta is a rather large city- usually means lots of cars besides your own being driven at the same time, especially during the day. The Atlanta police thought enough of what Hill was doing to actually arrest him and then charge him with speeding and reckless driving, which would make me believe that he put others at risk.

Includes a dashcam video of him driving and shows you the kind of traffic there was on the road at the time.

Sounds like he cut someone off, too.

He claimed he was "in a hurry."

If there's no where in the united states that you can drive over a 100mph legally, why build a car and have it ship to america with speedometers topping at 160 mph.

If he was the only one on the highway, he would have still been issued a ticket.

That sht never made sense to me, why sell a fast car that you can never drive fast in..smh

Not sure I ever hit 100. Maybe once a long time ago. You start to feel it at 90 and bring it down. I can't even fathom what 143 feels like damn

Can I assume that you watched the video from the TV news segment... which undoubtedly did not show the worst of what Hill was doing.

Are telling me that if you had a child who just got his first car, you'll give him your blessing if he tells you he's going to drive 107 MPH on a highway with a 65 MPH limit (32MPH over the 10MPH buffer the cops usually allow) that clearly had a good number of cars operating?

Better yet- would you be OK if a friend of yours did what Hill was doing with your 12 year old kid in the front seat?

It would seem that the Fast and Furious franchise has done more than just entertained folks.

Got caught for speeding in Montana doing close to that recently. Lucky for the female cop who ticketed me that my shirt was on! 107mph isn't such a big deal IMO, if you are doing it on empty stretch of highway, not weaving in and out of traffic which Hill was apparently doing.

Felt Walsh picked Hill with very little consideration. Seemed to have been more concerned with FAs.
