I think the perfect free agency for us would be D.Jordan and D.Carroll.

We can put Melo at the 4 spot with D.Jordan at the 5 and Carroll at the 3. Melo's offensive game at the 4 next to Jordan's defensive game at the 5 and Carroll's offensive and defensive game at the 3 would fit perfect. We could rotate KP in at the 4 spot and move Melo to the 3 and Carroll can play some 2 with certain lineups and KP could even play some 5 against certain lineups. I think we could get by with Calderon, J.Grant, Gallo, Shved and Ledo at the guard spots.

Calderon/J.Grant
Gallo/Shved
D.Carroll
Melo/KP
D.Jordan
We will also have veteran minimum contracts to bring in some good players as well and if we can find a way to get D.Jordan and Carroll to work with us then maybe we can even find a way to get P.Beverley who would be a great fit with us as well.

My dream is to unload Lopez and Calderon, near the trade deadline for Lance Stephenson and fill ins *like Crawford's expiring with 150% rule* that are expiring, possibly Net's 2016 2nd rounder
Adding a future 1st rounder would be a GREAT deal, though Calderon must show he can still play on a high level in limited minutes and Clippers must be contending for a roster spot in the Western Conference
Clippers are forced to overpay if needed for a Center, with Blake Griffen and CP3 in their primes and eligible to OPT OUT 2years from now

Unloading Affalo for James Johnson and Terrence Ross, with a draft pick would be great, both of which are expirings if Ross doesn't get an extension
Derozan will be a UFA next season and Affalo could be a short term answer if they do not want to overpay to keep him

I do not mind keeping Derrick Williams but being able to get Whiteside if he is LEGIT should be our priority with next years FA class and many Centers available
With Whiteside and KP being the future of our franchise and complimenting each other on OFF and DEF

How does trading Lopez for Stephenson make any sense for us?

@ronron, when giving Trade scenarios they need to make sense for both teams not just ours.
Lopez for stephenson? Why would they take that deal? Who would be our Center?
Derozan is a proven scoring machine, probably even the face of that franchise....We have 0 Trade chips, any other team could give them a more aggressive offer.

LMAO... I agree.
Lopez for Stephenson...bad trade
Afflalo...low risk/ high reward and essentially a 1 and done for us for johnson and Ross....strike 2
And then Derozan who makes melo look like a pass first guy... Derozan is really not got, all he does is score....inefficiently at that....

we would get rid of Calderon
get Net's 2016 2nd round pick
future 1st rounder from Clippers and a 2nd rounder

and we could look to ship out Lance Stephenson and whoever we acquire with him if Crawford to a contender for additional assets
We need to IMPROVE our roster and add assets
Whiteside is the perfect YOUNG TALENT that would consider New York and take the chance of media criticism for endorsements as our #1 option on OFFENSE in the Triangle
IF KP shows that is in fact a TOP TIER player with potential and more likely to contribute earlier than later as anticipated by SAS, KP/WHiteside compliment each other on BOTH ENDS and our system

Like I said, it depends if Hassan Whiteside is in fact an upcoming ALL STAR talent and I see him fitting in with KP's skills on both OFF and DEFENSE + REBOUNDING as the future of our franchise
Keep in contact with his agents like we did with Monroe but this time we will be offering the MAX as we monitor Whiteside this year with Bosh back and see if last year wasn't a fluke

Whiteside will be UFA and Miami only has his EARLY BIRD RIGHTS, he would be demanding a MAX salary that would be about 21m starting with only 3years of experience

Phil Jackson should understand he needs ALL STAR talent that could defend/create for the team in order for a chance to contend, our acquisitions this summer with the 27-30m spent, simply did not add us players that can even draw double teams

I want draft picks from Clippers, and with Jordan heading to Dallas and money committed to CP3 and Blake Griffen, Lopez would allow Clippers to continue to contend
Can we get them to overpay? The only other team that I can see making a trade that could help them is Chicago with Noah's expiring and with Jimmy Butlers extension with Chicago being known to be cheap

However, if Calderon and Lopez both play well, their trade values could go up, if Lance continues to struggle and Chicago keeps Noah, maybe we get 3 draft picks from Clippers

Net's 2016 2nd rounder
1 1st rounder, 1 2nd rounder (or maybe even as high as 2 future 1st rounders (which would be a HUGE price to pay and both CP and Blake Griffen could leave early with TEAM OPTIONs on their final year of their contracts (at earliest 2 seasons later)
We may force Clippers to overpay in order to continue to try to contend, (they are over the cap already so their options are limited)

The Knicks will have about 20-30m with the rise of the cap, in addition to getting rid of Lopez's contract and any other contracts for more cap space next year
I see it as how The Suns traded Marbury to us when Isiah was here, for basically expirings and 2 future 1st rounders
Whiteside would be our Steve Nash, we have up to the trade deadline to evaluate Whitesides performance along with a better sense of what to expect of KP in year 2 with the rest of our roster

Next year they were able to acquire Steve Nash with Dantoni, changing the philosophy of the Sun's roster and Dantoni's future along with todays NBA game
Like when we traded for CA, we had little leverage with teams in order to add talent, and Clippers are in a similar situation after we were forced to overpay for talents in trades

Clippers
==========

Lance Stephenson
Fill ins (maybe Crawford's expiring)
Wesley Johnson's vet min contract

Net's 2016 2nd rounder (we have no draft picks next year)
Clippers draft picks (with at least one future 1st rounder to as high as 2 1st rounders, or 1-2 future 2nd rounders)
150% rule if needed

Knicks
===========

Lopez
Calderon
Early maybe Derrick Williams
150% rule

Maybe we can do another trade after acquiring those Clippers players for additional assets, even for 2 2nd rounders for Lance, maybe 1-2 2nd rounders for Crawford
Lets be honest, we are NOT going to be contending with this roster that Phil Jackson constructed with his FA signings, while both Affalo and Derrick Williams has player options heading in to next season
Like we did with Greg Monroe, we will need to develop a good relationship with Whiteside's agent and the likelyhood of him signing with NYK's on a MAX deal to be our #1 option with a OFFENSE catered to his skills in the POST and forming a duo in Whiteside and KP as the future of our franchise that will get better and have many years of production in them at their respective ages
With the rise of the cap, without trades we will have 20m-30m to spend next year, however, if we get rid of Lopez's contract along with other contracts, it would allow us to have more money to spend in the OFF SEASON

IF Lopez/KP plays well to start the season, it could change the perception of our franchise and Whiteside would join a franchise that FITS his skills and allows him to get endorsements here in NY
We need ALL STAR players that could play both OFF and DEF, in which Whiteside does do
With CA's contract, there is a possibility that he could draw interest from other teams by the trade deadline if he shows he has recovered from his surgery, especially with a team like Houston who looks like they may strike out in FA an could make a trade for him while giving us young players and future draft picks (Houston owns all of their future 1st rounders that are trade able starting 2017, along with DMO who would be a great fit for us with Whiteside/KP/DMO/Kyle O Quin
That would give us much more money and assets to build a a team moving forward that I can see actually contending and have assets/cap space to continue to improve with young talent
Calderon's could play much better this year if we add PG/SG's that could penetrate/facilitate/and hit a wide open 3pter, especially if we have SF/PF's that could facilitate/penetrate as well, with Calderon's strength being a shooter, off the ball, and the 2nd ball handler

So while Calderon's contract doesn't look trdeable now, things could change by the trade deadling
To compliment him, we should sign Daniel Hanckett (Hackett has batter defense) or Shved along with players that could facilitate in other positions like a Odom or David Lee type player to play point/forward, which is why I like Benimon's versatilty at 6-8, 245pds, that could play SF/PF maybe Center like Draymond Green/David Lee, Jarrell Eddie's abiity 6-7, 220pds, to shoot/spread the floor at G/F, and maybe Scotty Hopson 6-6 205pds,and PG/SG, all from the D League
Look at our roster, you are lying to yourself if you think this roster that Phil built will contend better than my vision of how we can improve our roster immediately and in the future with draft picks to continue to improve

Denver (could break up their entire roster and trade Lawson *allow Mudiay to have to keys moving forward*, along with trade Faried's contract, and expirings Wilson Chandler/Gallo for assets)
Toronto (owns the 1st rounder that is lower with Denver/NYK's, pick for AB
Houston (owns our 2nd rounder next summer)

Those teams could help us if it makes us WORST, as they benefit, especially if Denver breaks up their roster to rebuild, Toronto would help us get worse as they own the 1st rounder from Denver or NYK's, they get the lower draft pick
To facilitate in trades if needed, while benefiting if we get worse this upcoming season...

Especially if Ovidijus Galdikas is signed to a multiyear deal and shows he can play solid minutes for us, while there are other Center's next year besides Whiteside that would be similar in production to Lopez or even better

Would you guys rather have Robin Lopez or Whiteside?
Tell me a team that Phil Jackson has won a ring with without a DOMINANT TOP TIER talent on his roster or the Triangle
Phil Jackson understands he needs TOP TIER talents that are 2way players as a coach, and Fisher is NOT Phil Jackson, currently TBD at best as a Head Coach...

Whiteside is YOUNG and would compliment our system with KP as well to form to twin towers that would both have great length/athleticism/rebounding/shot blocking and continue to grow as the future of the franchise
KP would compliment Whiteside's abilities as Whiteside compliments KP's skill sets together
I am thinking for the future of the franchise and being LEGIT contenders in the near future if we can land him

We would be able to lure talents once again in New York with next years FA class
While Whiteside gets his OWN TEAM like Monroe gets with The Bucks, along with endorsements, here in New York...

Just like when The Sun's traded Marbury to The Knicks and used that money to acquire Steve Nash, along with draft picks and getting rid of Calderon's salary, using Clippers need for a Center to its fullest advantage...

With the rise of the cap and next years FA, we would be able to build a legit roster going forward

Whiteside is still very unproven. He might put up better numbers than Robin, but Robin is here to anchor a defense, something Whiteside is a long way from proving he can do on a nightly basis. Still have to say Robin is far better at this stage mainly for that reason.

Well we would have to evaluate/monitor Whiteside's potential, while Robin Lopez is a solid role player, we will need ALL STAR talents in order to contend
In the Triangle and maybe KP shows his potential this year to lure FA's over with a system that could work with actual talent
At the very least, Gasol (player option) could be a stop gap player that would still be better than Lopez

Whiteside

Gasol

Noah

Al Horford

MosGoV

Al Jefferson/Hibbert

THESE GUYS will all will be UFAs, it is possible that we could sign DURANT and Whiteside if we unloaded Calderon with Lopez with the assets I would get in the trades...
IF NOT Durant, maybe Battum/Wilson Chandler/Gallo with David Lee, and some ROLE PLAYERS that will fit well together, along with assets to make tradeds, maybe for Shabazz Muhummmed/The Euro, DMO/Mike Muscula, some cap friendly players in Philly

I'm not convinced that it's so necessary that we need bring in "All Star" talents in order to contend. I'm not basing all my hopes on convincing KD to come here. It's just not worth worrying about. We've got a team to develop right now and that has to be the focus. Just how much can we get out of the young talent we have on board? We could develop our own stars and quality rotation players. We've got to give our last 2 draft classes and UDFA's a chance to develop and show what they can do. Also the FA's we've signed can help play a role. We have this season to see what we've got and then take it from there to upgrade further. It's not a one season process. Let's try to make some progress this year and more in the following year.

The all-star talent is Porzingis. We need Porzingis to turn into a star and Grant to become a very productive nba starter to have playoff success in the next 3-4 years. It's really that simple.

i hope so. Its gonna take a lot of luck i guess. Dirk is one of the few euro players drafted high that became a star. Im hoping porzingis is at least close to that because it would be great. Grant im a huge fan, i think he will be a productive player not a all star but a good pro
