Part commentator, part comedian, but always a performer.

I take him for what he is and actually enjoy him, sometimes, even though I frequently disagree with his rants.

I'd rather have him around chirping in the background, than have him silenced.

He got worked up for emotional effect for entertaient but its also probably how he feels and is allwoed to feel this way. Phil has to do whats best for the Knicks organization. Imo these moves were what's best for the Knicks big picture. Making moves to appeal to short sighted fans is what gets GMs and Prez in trouble.

I remember when SAS put on a big rant on how Isiah Thomas needed to bring in a dog because the Knicks were soft. So Isiah listening to SAS drafted Renaldo Balkman and signed Jerod Jeffries that offseason. Which ended up being a waste of a pick and cap space.

smith is a racist.
knicks win 38-43 games in 16-17. rose MUST shoot no more than 14 shots per game, defer to kp6 + melo, and have a usage rate of less than 25%

SAS has no real idea what he's talking about. Phil has done the right thing by this franchise. KP has as much of a chance to have a good start to his career as any of the guys that were picked right after him. SAS really looks like a fool going on such a rant. So we will eventually see how this draft pans out for the Knicks. I would love to see SAS eat crow on this rant. I hope KP balls out this year.

Some of us have talked about the disconnect between signing Anthony and the true rebuild the team should have done, and Phil might have wanted.

What makes Smith's rant one bordering on pure ignorance, IMO, is that he never mentioned the trade down strategy, which might have brought us a young veteran, and perhaps an "older" guy like Kaminsky. who seems to be NBA ready.

Instead he mentioned "Stanley Roberts," aka Stanley Johnson, a guy who showed little at the end of the season, Winslow, one of the youngest kids in the draft with dubious jump shooting ability, and Stein, a fine defender with a limited offensive game. We all have our "favorites," but the only one of the 3 I would have been somewhat happy with was Winslow, and I have serious doubts about his overall offensive game at this point in his young career, especially the way our offense operates.

Someone mentioned Smith is a racist. Perhaps. I don't think so, but...

...Kaminsky and Hezonja, like the 3 he mentioned, are both more developed physically than KP, and have similar experience levels, yet he did not mention them in his rant. There is a reason Orlando took Hezonja over Winslow and Johnson, although some in this country are clueless about why he might be taken. Not sure who the other two of the "5" players he thought a better fit, were...maybe he knew he would be laughed at if he mentioned them.

SAS and now Adam Schein chime in on this nonsense. SAS is so wrong about Phil and Schein is also on this win now kick! They are both LOST.

I rarely agree with what SAS says, but I have to admire him as a professional. The man managed to get his own thread on this site from one off-the-cuff rant. If I didn't know any better, I'd say he accomplished his goal for that night.

Actually it's more than just the one rant. The one I posted is another one. He's still pushing this narrative that Phil is a fraud and that Melo is livid and that there's nothing but doom and gloom for the Knicks in Free Agency. He believes that if we had drafted Winslow or WCS that our situation would be substantially better. Suddenly that would indicate that we were still "win now" and FA's would be running to the Knicks to play with one of those kids. He sounds like a darned fool.

Nixluva is posting triangle screen grabs, even when nobody asks - Fishmike. LOL So are we going to reference that thread like the bible now? "The thread of Wroten Page 14 post 9" - EnySpree

Is "true fan" a synonym for idiot?

Yeah, once we added Mudiay we'd be championship caliber.

He's a blowhard. We went into the draft knowing that we had almost no players on the roster and that we pretty much had a rebuild going on. If we draft Winslow or WCS that doesn't make us any less of a rebuild. The only part of the process that was going to be "Win Now" was Free Agency. So SAS is talking nonsense. Phil has been saying for months that he wanted a future component as well as a present component. SAS like many of us assumes that KP won't be able to contribute right away but we may have been wrong. It looks like he's a more skilled and tougher kid than we thought. He's more skilled than Winslow or WCS and has more upside than Kaminsky. KP did well in an equally tough league.

SAS needs to educate himself about the player and Phil's plan. Phil has made 2 additional picks of young players who are a little older than KP, so he didn't completely go with nothing but raw players. If KP was actually raw as it was being reported then maybe SAS would have a point, but he's one of the most skilled players in the draft.

Lacks objectivity.

You get the feeling that he takes on a certain line of thought based on the relationships or friendships he has and not any sense of journalistic objectivity or evidence based judgement.

As I said- I look at him as an entertainer and performer.

He was always annoying on the radio because he could take 2 minutes to say what anyone else could say in under 20 seconds.

He does seem to be a mouthpiece for certain people though, so you do have to consider this when looking at what he is saying.
